Granted Reprieve
Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me, and a nod of recognition goes to the creator of this challenge.
A/N: None. :) Update 2 of 5.
Chapter 227: Granted Reprieve
“Why are you… helping… me?” Kagome wheezed, her breathing labored. She was propped up against a tree, where Kaede was tending to her bite wound. The elder’s brows knitted together as she applied pressure to the younger woman’s torn skin.
“Hold the cloth firmly while I do the binding,” Kaede answered instead.
Once Kagome nodded the affirmative, Kaede wrapped up her midsection with surprisingly deft hands and took out a brass-yellow stone from within her sleeve. She muttered a few words under her breath–something that sounded suspiciously like a prayer–before a calming warmth soothed the pain of the female’s injury.
