Chapter 172: Gasp

This was it.

The mysterious being in the tunnel had closed in on their location. She would–

“Mrow.”

Kagome harshly sucked in a gasp before she flashed the beam of light near her legs. There, the pudgy face of her housecat met her disbelieving gaze, staring at her rather blandly. He let out another lazy meow in greeting and then leisurely licked his paw.

“Buyo!?” the woman hissed, relieved, but annoyed that the feline had frightened her so badly. “Why are you–”

To her astonishment, the overweight cat merely turned his head and disappeared back into the darkness.
