Chapter 32

“Your project is about the legend of the Western Prince, and his father, the Great and Terrible Dog Demon General of the West?”

Kagome nodded, feeling a bit silly know that she had spoken the words that plagued her history class. “I know it’s just a myth, but I thoug—"

“Just a myth?! How can you say that, after meeting him?!” Her teacher shrieked, causing the young girl to blush furiously.

“Y-you know?!”

“Honestly, girl, do you think they’d just let a half-demon waltz into this school, without having someone here to make sure he wouldn’t cause trouble?”

“No, I guess not.” Kagome laughed nervously, scratching the back of her head. “So, I’m okay to do my presentation, as planned?”

“I look forward to seeing it! I’m sure your partner will turn quite a few heads.” Her teacher winked, shooing out the girl with a flick of her wrist. “Now, leave! I have work to finish.”

Kagome nodded, thanking her with a low bow as she left the classroom.

The rest of her classes went by quickly enough, and she found herself often thinking of the demon who had managed, quite easily, to win her affections. She smiled to herself, remembering that he had promised to pick her up after school, and headed to her locker.

The sudden giggling of girls as they ran into one of the empty classrooms got her attention, however, and she found herself following them to see what their excitement was all about. As she entered, she saw that horde of students were pressed against the glass plate of the window, talking animatedly about the businessman from this morning that was waiting in front of the school.

“He’s so gorgeous!”

“Wow, look at that suit!”

“Is that an import?!”

“So dreamy!”

Kagome didn’t have to look outside to know it was Sesshomaru they were talking about, and her chest filled with a sense of pride. Look all you want, ladies, but he’s mine.

“Guys! Nanami’s giving him her phone number!” One of the girls exclaimed, their eyes going green with jealousy. Kagome blinked, running to the window to see what they were talking about. She watched as Sesshomaru stared at the girl who approached him, being pushed by her friends. She held out a piece of paper, her hands shaking. He shook his head, then lifted his head to look in her direction.

He could sense where she was, and searched the crowd of students for her face. He smiled when he found her, and Kagome felt her heart melt. The other girls fought over who he was smiling at, but she knew better.

She practically skipped down the steps, bursting out of the school as she ran over to Sesshomaru, bowing her head to him as she neared him.

“Thank you for the ride, Sesshomaru.” She said, lifting her head as she shot a bright smile to him. He nodded, opening the door for her. Before she stepped in, however, he leaned in towards her, brushing yet another kiss to her cheek.

“It is my pleasure.” He rumbled softly, taking her backpack. She nodded dumbly, entering the car.  

The girls on the second floor could only gape at his possessive display, outraged that it had been her he had been staring at, all along.
