 -Transitional Roles-

“I am sure you are puzzled on how I am still alive.” Sesshomaru gave a curt nod, signaling towards the wizard to proceed with his story with an arched brow.

Nobuharu exhaled softly, his once playful eyes gleaming with stark remorse. Kagome was taken aback, the radical change in behavior confused and astounded her; she presumed the wizard didn’t feel any other way except pleasure for corrupting the lives of others with impish pranks and nefarious shenanigans.

“It is the one thing I came to regret wholeheartedly,” He started. “Do you remember that human girl who you had an avid revulsion of?” No answer but the bored gaze of the lord. “She was the only one that didn’t give a damn about statuses or wealth; a poor farmer’s daughter caught my fancy.”

Kagome scooted closer, fascinated with the story the wizard weaved. Though he told the story with a nonchalant tone, his eyes expressed the raw emotions of anguish and heartache. “What happened to her?”

“An accidental mix of spells happened, resulting in a miniature form and then,” He paused for a second, inhaling a deep breath before continuing. “An owl carried her away.”

Sesshomaru slanted his amber orbs her direction, causing her to fidget. Apparently, he still held a grudge over that little incident.
