-Good Fortunes-

It has been several days and numerous kills that they finally reached a village. However, due to Sesshomaru’s discernible reluctance to enter the village because of his current situation, Kagome was forced to enter herself, but since it was a demon village—to prevent another unnecessary death—Sesshomaru volunteered to assist her in disguising her scent.

I can do this! Kagome pep-talked to herself, adjusting the large pelt around her form while looking in all directions before scurrying forward to a seamstress in the town’s square. The bag of jewels jingled against her hips, even though they were small, they were still valuable enough to purchase several yukata and some supplies due to their rarity. She bypassed every thudding step, cautiously making her way to the market area. She could tell from the glances that she looked a bit strange and could already guessed her appearance made her look like a vanilla ice cream swirl with the pelt—if they knew what that was. But fortunately for her, none were the wiser and continued their business. She could almost sigh in victory, soon it will be over and she could finally get rid of her kimono.

Unfortunately, her sense of direction has never been the best. She wandered around aimlessly, peeping at each stand and building looking for the seamstress, and by the position of the sun, she has been at it for an hour already. She needed to hurry before she loses her concentration on her powers, which were going hay-wire ever since she came in close proximity of the village; one tingle of power seeping through would definitely be asking for trouble and a death sentence. She gathered her courage to ask a demon, but the gods seemed to have taken a shine to her today. A merely few feet away stood a familiar little flea, Myoga.

“Myoga!” She shouted, causing the little flea demon to turn around in confusion. She could tell by his expression he didn’t recognize her. “It’s Kagome!” A spark lit up in his eyes, and he walked to her, half of his arms waving at her.

“Lady Kagome, it is good to see you,” He greeted. “But what happened to you?” He gestured towards her form, concern coating his voice.

“It’s a long story and I don’t have the time to tell it.” She sighed. She watched as a narrowed gaze crossed his features when he stepped forward, petting the pelt. “It’s Sesshomaru’s.” His gaze was now directed at her, questions shimmering in his large eyes. “It’s part of the long story, Myoga.”

“Where is Master Inuya—“

“As much as I would love to continue this conversation with you, do you know where I can find the seamstress?” She figured if she wasn’t back by a certain time, the demon lord would surely depart from the clearing, she didn’t want a repeat from before. Myoga pointed to a building across the dirt road. “Tell Inuyasha I’m fine, I have a mission to do and I don’t want him to worry about me, okay?” She knew the dog-eared male would throw a fit for neglecting her duties and responsibilities, but can she help it? Certainly not, and she severely hoped Inuyasha would listen to what Myoga has to say about her current predicament and actually think rationally for once. She quickly headed across after saying goodbyes to the little flea; she felt a little saddened when a dumbfounded look crossed his face, it wasn’t part of her good conscience to leave him hanging like that.

Inside the shop hung different variants of kimonos, all were beautiful and from how the lights shined off of them showed good quality.

A tingling sensation and she looked up, watching with wide eyes as a spider demon hanged upside down on the beams, its crimson eyes on her. “What may I do for you human?”

Okay, this is bad. Kagome thought the pelt would cover any scent, but apparently this female spider already figured out her deception. Well, it was nice living. She nervously gulped when the creature lowered herself, the large form dwarfing her small stature.

A minute passed and still they were staring at each other. “Well?”

“I-I need s-several yukata.” Kagome stammered, sweating collecting in her tight fists. The female held her hand out, and Kagome had a clue of what she wanted. With sloppy twists to untie the bag, she dropped it in the outstretched palm and watched as the female shifted through the precious jewels.

“Any specifications?”

“I-I’m traveling.” The female nodded before she wandered to the back of the shop. “How long will this take?” Her stammering stopped, the female wasn’t about to eat her and for that she was frantically praying her praises inwardly to the fates and the gods.

“An hour at most.”

Kagome glanced at the kimonos on display, marveling at the beauty of the various pieces, but one caught her eye. It was an iris-hued with white flowers dotting the lower hem; a complementary gold obi completed the outfit. “Excuse me, can I have this design for one?”

“The snowdrops?” The voice muttered back.

“Um yes, I guess that's what they're called.” She wasn't a floriculturist, however it did sound foreign.

The spider demon continued her work and Kagome was unnerved that not once did the female glanced back, but when she reached for the purple silk from the spool, she already knew what she requested.
