After much deliberation, Sesshomaru perched the woman on his shoulder, and could hear the soft sigh when she nestled herself in his pelt. Not many have had the privilege to touch his being, with the exception of the few females that graced his bed. He never had touched another human before, excluding Rin, whom smiled brightly at the occasional pats on the head. He didn’t know how to distinguish this feeling between disgust or annoyance about the close proximity. At least she didn’t carry the putrid stench of other humans, her scent was unnaturally acceptable. During his preoccupation, he failed to notice the ominous activities that began in the clearing. Only the piercing scream alerted him a second too late.
