The next morning, Sesshomaru dismissed his ward and retainer. As usual, the little girl pouted and the imp babbled about protecting and assisting, though the little demon did neither but cause disruption of the day’s quiet. This however, made Kagome feel extremely nervous in the lord’s company. She was wary, and for a good reason too. Rin usually conversed with her throughout the day and unbeknownst to Jaken, his antics and askance expressions were the main entertainment source to the two humans. Now she was stuck with a silent demon, and knowing how much a chatterbox she was, it’ll surely grate on said demon’s nerves.

When the departure of the steed and two companions left, Sesshomaru pivoted on his heel, heading towards the long grass within the woods. Already frightened by the long strides of the lord, Kagome did her best to catch up, but was quickly overshadowed by the cumbersome stalks.

“Sesshomaru!” She yelled out, hoping her voice carried to the demon. Minutes passed and the presence was gone. She felt the tightening pulls at the corner of eyes, a sure sign that the waterworks were about to happen but she fruitlessly wiped them away. An intense anger coursed through her, she could feel her face heating up but a tiny sniffle broke through. Grabbing a grass stalk, she tried to break it with her bare hands, but only a slit showed her results.

“Cease your childish tantrums.” A baritone voice shook her out of her rage. Kagome, anger only shimmering, walked towards the source and came upon the lax form of the demon that abandoned her a couple minutes ago.

Indignantly, she said. “You abandoned me!”

“I have not, this Sesshomaru is duty bound to you, human.”
