Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me.

A/N: My muse is awfully lonely. Send him a note? *blinks puppy eyes* But really, I hope y’all are still enjoying things! ;) Will be writing the ending soon. But don’t panic, I’ll give you a heads up when it’s near! :) Update 1 of 2.

Chapter 94: Curiosity

If you saw a shooting star right now, what would you wish for?”

Sesshoumaru exhaled slowly, eyes narrowing in suspicion. Kagome face reflected none of what she was currently feeling. Her expression was uncharacteristically blank and stoic. It did not suit her.

He chose his next words with the greatest care. “I would wish for nothing,” was his honest reply. “I have everything that I need.”

Nothing at all?” Kagome echoed faintly, picking at the sleeves of her yukata. Her tone almost hinted at disappointment. “You won’t even humor me, just a little?”

No.” Instead of elaborating, he turned his gaze upon the dark sky, finding that it bothered him to look at her. His voice was low when he said, “Why would you ask such a thing?”

The female leaned into his arm, reaching down to hold his hand. “Just curious.”

A chorus of cheers erupted around them as a flash of light suddenly streaked overhead. Sparks scattered all across the sky–in reds, in golds, in greens, and in blues. The delayed crackling of the fireworks carried down a few moments later.

Do you have a wish, Kagome?”

A loud boom roared in Sesshoumaru’s ears, rattling his teeth. The rapid sounds matched the beating of his heart, pounding harshly in his chest. He strained to hear her response over the deafening noises.

Maybe.”

What is it?” A small hand gripped his chin, wrenching his attention away from the colorful display that was taking place. Kagome’s eyes glowed in the moonlight as she pulled his head down and brushed her cheek against his. A shudder went through him. Her breath was hot as she whispered into his ear, caressing his skin with gentle fingers.

If I told you, it would never come true.”
