Chapter 5: Vow
Thinking about his wife brought Sesshoumaru a measure of peace he could not describe.
Ever since that eventful Christmas so many years ago, Kagome held a place in his heart and filled a gap no one else could ever hope to fill. Her love consumed his soul and enveloped him with such warmth that he couldn’t help but to wonder what he’d do if her light was ever taken away from him.
In a dark place in his mind, he dreaded the possibility of such a thing happening.
Sobering quickly, he dismissed the feeling because he would always protect her.

He’ll sometimes refer to Kagome in the present tense as well. Remember: He doesn’t realize that he’s in a coma. :(
