Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha or Pixar’s Up. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me.
A/N: Erm… It’s been a few days. My, uh, muse tried to escape from me lol. But he didn’t, so no worries! He was just chasing after a few plunnies, is all. Some of you may already know how slippery those little critters can be. ;) Update 1 of 2.
Chapter 40: Acquiescence
“Marry me, Maru-kun.”
The phrase had been so sudden–so out of the blue–that for a moment, Sesshoumaru had forgotten how to breathe.
He and Kagome had been curled up together on the couch, watching an animated film about an elderly man, a boy, and a talking dog, when her proposal had tumbled, unbidden, from her lips. It wasn’t until a few heartbeats later that he had murmured a soft acceptance and wrapped his arms around her.
Though they were supposed to rejoice in the good news and be happy, Sesshoumaru had only felt a hollow ache in his chest.

A/N: Btw, I wrote a lemon. Seriously. Don’t ask me how/why, but there is one. But for those of you that aren’t interested in that kind of stuff, don’t worry! I’m going to post it under a collection of lemons, so I won’t expose you to anything…unseemly. Anyway, be on the lookout for that. I’ll give you guys a heads up when I post it. ;)
