Chapter 32: Reassurances

The day Kagome had woken up after her accident was the day that he’d broken her heart.

She had seemed happy and relieved to see him at the time, but had been confused about why they had been in a room that wasn’t theirs–or, that they hadn’t even been at home, for that matter. It was a discussion that he had been wholly unprepared for and was one that still weighed heavily on his mind.

Sesshoumaru remembered the way Kagome’s hands had alternated between holding his own and trailing down to rest against her stomach.

She’d been smiling so lovingly.
