Chapter 28: The Morning After

Sesshoumaru got up to stretch his legs, rubbing his eyes as he did so. Suppressing the urge to yawn, he made his way over to the window and cracked it open a notch, basking in the refreshing scent that carried through.

The storm had stopped sometime in the late hours of the night, and the dry soil and its asphalt brother had greedily soaked up the remnants of the rain. Though it was bright outside, the sun remained hidden behind thick clusters of clouds, peeking between them whenever it could.

He only wished Kagome had been awake to see it.
