Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me.

A/N: Happy reading! Also, Inuyasha will never be a jerkface in my stories. :) Update 2 of 2.

Chapter 24: Support

Are ya tipsy yet?”

Feeling a slight buzzing in his head, Sesshoumaru only grunted in response. The dizziness was tolerable, but he didn’t understand the reason for wanting to turn one’s brain into mush. He wasn’t nearly as excited about consuming alcohol as his brother was. It tasted like poison and burned his throat.

Whoo! This stuff’s smooth!” Inuyasha declared, a strangely pleased smile on his face. “Ha-ha! I never would’ve taken you for a lightweight, Sesshoumaru!” This was followed by obnoxious laughter, and Sesshoumaru felt like punching him.

Take note of your liver, little brother,” he rumbled instead.

Inuyasha shrugged and threw an arm around his shoulders. “Human or not, it’d take more than this to make me go under.”

Sesshoumaru sighed. “You behavior shows otherwise. I will not carry you if you decide to faint.”

Yeah, yeah.” The younger man waved his hand as if he was shooing away a fly. “Your honor wouldn’t let you leave me behind.” Sesshoumaru’s lack of response was telling. “Aww! Big brother cares!”

The silver-haired male pushed him back onto his own stool, oddly embarrassed.

Your breath offends my senses. Sit down before you hurt yourself.”

Inuyasha took another swig of his drink and elbowed Sesshoumaru’s side a moment later. Wiping his mouth on the back of his hand, he said, “Can I ask you something?”

You just did.”

Lemme ask something else then.” His grin was mischievous. “Which of these chicks would you go after?”

Inuyasha…” Sesshoumaru growled warningly.

Intoxicated or not, his brother was treading on dangerous grounds. He probably wouldn’t have inquired such a thing had he been in the right state of mind.

Just answer me, man!”

Reining in his anger, Sesshoumaru nodded stiffly and indicated the bartender that was serving another customer at the other end of the counter.

I would tap that,” he muttered through clenched teeth.

Judging by Inuyasha’s loud guffaws a few seconds later, he realized he must have said something ridiculous. For some reason, he couldn’t remember why he had asked the immature fool to teach him some modern lingo.

Seriously!? That wench? Your standards are so low!”

Feeling his cheeks warm, Sesshoumaru blamed it on the alcohol.

Standards?” he demanded.

Yeah! I can’t believe you’d actually bed that ughh–!” Inuyasha choked on his words, clutching at Sesshoumaru’s wrist. His dear brother had a hand wrapped firmly around his throat and was snarling into his face. Inuyasha watched as his eyes flickered between a deep crimson and his normal gold.

Whelp.” Sesshoumaru’s voice was rough, guttural. “I would rather kill the wretch than lay with her.”

Inuyasha snickered then, wheezing painfully and sounding like he was having an asthma attack. Snorting softly, Sesshoumaru let him go. None of the bar’s occupants had noticed the exchange.

Well, that’s not what ya told me,” the cheeky male replied, rubbing his neck.

If I tapped her, she would die,” Sesshoumaru stated plainly, frowning when Inuyasha chuckled again at his expense.

Dude, just stop saying it! The meaning isn’t literal!”

“…Hn.”

But thanks, Sesshoumaru.”

For what?” The man in question waited patiently as a curious glint entered his eyes.

All things considered, thanks for coming to hang out with me. Lord knows we needed to unwind a little bit.”

Indeed.”

And not to sound sappy or anything, but in case something happens,” Inuyasha looked worn-out, yet sincere, “I’ve got your back.”

Thank you, brother.”
