Provocation

Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me.

Chapter 126: Provocation

Inuyasha inspected the bamboo sword in his hands, fingers flexing over the hilt. He swung it a few times to test its weight and balance, familiarizing himself with it once again. When he was done, he abruptly threw another shinai at the other occupant of their father’s dojo, satisfied when he heard a low grunt in return.

Look, I’m only gonna say this once: Don’t do anything you’re gonna regret later,” he said, starting a slow walk around the room, bare feet padding lightly on the soft matting of the floor. His gaze was trained on his brother, blazing with his fury and disapproval. “If you let her go, you’ll break her completely.”

Sesshoumaru glanced down at his own practice weapon, a deep crease between his brows. While he was pleased that there were no splinters sticking out of the sword, he wasn’t eager to use it against the other male, especially after what happened the last time they had sparred. Due to a heated argument, things had gotten out of hand, and Inuyasha had to be transported to the hospital. Reflecting on it now, it seemed as though their family would always be bound to that cursed place.

The elder Taishou eyed Inuyasha’s aggressive stance, lowering the shinai to his side. “I will not fight you,” he murmured softly. “Do not force my hand.”

Inuyasha chucked, the sound bubbling from his throat in a raspy growl.

It’s too late for that, bastard,” he said.

Then, he lunged.
