“I’ll be gone for one week.”

“I get free reign while you’re gone?” Though Kagome wasn’t thrilled to be kept hostage, she was excited for the opportunity to explore.

Sesshoumaru nodded. “Jaken will be here should you need anything.”

Kagome was surprisingly unfazed by the news. He  wasn’t as irritating as he used to be.

“And why exactly is it that I have to stay here? My own place is perfectly safe you know."

Sesshoumaru wasn’t sure what to make of the situation. Though he’d told Shippou he would watch her he knew the real reasons for keeping her here were purely selfish. Closing the space between them he cupped her cheek. “I gave my word you would be safe until our return.”

Kagome ducked her head to hide her blush. She was sure she felt his lips against her hair, but his whispered words distracted her. “Get some sleep.”
