Chapter VII

Prompt: Books

Words: 312

Night time had fallen over the Feudal Era as the tachi went about preparing their temporary camp. Inuyasha had gone off hunting while Shippo fetched water and Miroku gathered wood. Once everyone had returned, Kagome, with Sango’s help, started dinner for everyone. Inuyasha had brought back a few rabbits, and the two women set about skinning and deboning the fuzzy animals. Taking the water from the helpful kit, Kagome set a pot of water to boil. She had decided to make a stew with the rabbits and a few of the root vegetables Sesshomaru had found while patrolling the area. Once the stew was set and cooking, Kagome walked over to her large bag and went through the things inside.

“Ah ha!” she exclaimed, pulling out her text books. Next, she searched for her pencils and notepads. Seeing as there was nothing more to do until the food was done, the miko from the future had decided to do one of the many piles of homework she still had left. Then next time she went home, she was planning to talk to her mom about being home schooled.

Sesshomaru watched as the miko read her strange scrolls. He moved over to where she was seated and sat down next to her. Kagome looked up from her books to smile at the Taiyokai before returning to her studies.

“What is that you are working on?” he asked, watching her write on the strange paper.

“My math,” she answered. “I have a test coming up soon that covers these two chapters. So I’m trying to get as much done as possible, before I have to go home.”

Sesshomaru nodded before letting the miko return to her studies. He would question her about life in the future when she wasn’t as busy.
