Kissed You Good Night

He sat in the diver’s seat staring out the windshield wondering what was wrong with himself.

 ‘Seriously Sesshomaru, did you not see the look on her face after your kissed her on the forehead yet again before saying goodnight? For Kami’s sake, why can’t you actually kiss? This was your seventh date in the last three weeks! She’s going to think you’re not really that interested in her.’

I dropped you off

Just a little after midnight

Sat in my car

Till you turned off your porch light

I should have kissed you

I should have pushed you up against the wall

I should have kissed you

Just like I wasn’t scared at all

The porch light turned off, pulling him away from his mental argument. He finally decided he should go back and make up for his mistake. Quickly climbing from his car, he headed back up the cement path towards her door. Before he made it to the step, he was shocked when the front door opened and he was met on the steps with a very pleased-looking Kagome.

I turned off the car

Ran through the yard

Back to your front door

Before I could knock

You turned the lock

And met me on the front porch

 She smiled at him and simply asked, “Did you forget something Sesshomaru?”

“Yes, Kagome I did. Something I should have done seven dates ago!” And with that, Sesshomaru  used the staggering of the steps to his advantage to even out their heights. He finally cupped her face and lowered his to gently kiss her soft, rose-coloured lips for the first time.

And I kissed you

Goodnight

And now that I’ve kissed you

It’s a good night good night baby goodnight

 You couldn’t see me

Watching through the window

Wondering what went wrong

Praying that you wouldn’t go

You should have kissed me

You should have pushed me up against the wall

You should have kissed me

I was right on the edge and ready to fall

 Once she’d said her goodnight she’d gone inside and stood in the entryway to her house in a somewhat dumbfounded state.  She just didn’t understand it at all really.

‘ We’ve been on seven dates now, ‘ she quickly counted on her fingers to double check, ‘Yep, it’s been seven and he hasn’t kissed me or tried anything at all. Not that she mind his kiss on the forehead and him being a complete gentleman but she was seriously starting to wonder if he was even that into her.’

Turning around she puffed an exasperated breath that probably completely messed up her bangs and turned off her porch light. In doing so, she noticed through the sheer curtains on the side windows that there was a car parked in front of her house.  Moving the curtains to the side, she realized it was Sesshomaru’s car and he was heading back towards her house. Smiling, she decided she’d meet him on the front porch.

 As he approached her, she noticed the look of determination upon his face that soon turned into surprise when he saw her waiting for him on the steps.

She couldn’t help but ask him the somewhat teasing question that she seriously hoped would end up in the long awaited first kiss, “Did you forget something Sesshomaru?”

His first response was a smile, “Yes, Kagome I did. Something I should have done seven dates ago!”

Butterflies filled her stomach as he lowered his head to reward her with what she’d been longing for; for the last three weeks.

So I turned off the car

Ran through the yard

Back to your front door

Before I could knock

You turned the lock

And met me on the front porch

 Their gentle kiss turned into a passionet on as they embraced and wound their hands into each other’s hair; and it didn’t end until they both needed to stop for some much needed air. They rested their foreheads on one another as they both panted softly while trying to calm their breathing and pounding hearts.

Slowly, they opened their eyes and looked at each other smiling; because they both realized just then that this moment was more than worth the wait.

And I kissed you

Goodnight

And now that I’ve kissed you

It’s a good night good night baby goodnight

Still smiling Sesshomaru took one step back down the front steps, but still held onto one of her small hands, “I should head home, Kagome. Thank you for another wonderful night.” He paused leaned in and gently kissed her now crimson coloured lips.

With that, he turned to head back to his car, but was stopped when he heard her call his name, “Sesshomaru!”

Looking back over his shoulder at the woman, he was sure he was already falling in love with her. He quirked an eyebrow and watched her walk down the stairs towards him. Once she made it to him all she did was stare at him for a bit, as if she was trying to make up her mind about something. All of a sudden it was apparent as he looked into her deep blue eyes that she’d made her decision.

I turned off the car

ran through the yard

back to your front door

Half scared to death can’t catch my breath

Aren’t these the moments we live for

Kagome smiled at him. She was sure that she really didn’t want him to leave her tonight, or any other night at that. She simply held up her hand in hopes that he would let her lead him back into the house. He stood there looking at her with the same shocked expression from before; which quickly turned to one that seemed to ask her for reassurance.

This caused her to smile even brighter and nod her head once. He quickly placed his hand in hers and let her lead him up the porch, through the front door that had been open the whole time, and into her house. The same house which would soon end up being their home.

And I kissed you
