The Wonders of Music by Smittee

'The woman's past' and 'The drive home'

Since Chapter One is a summary of it, after the chapter was accidentally deleted, I have also added Chapter 2 to the same page.  I don't own any of Rumiko Takahashi's characters etc, nor do I write this for a profit. I'm just a writer, who likes to get away from the constant conformity of existence, who likes to write fanfiction, in their spare time.

We find out that Kagome is working for the Taisho family's company, which designs new computer system, that will use old programs no longer supported, and etc. Inuyasha's Father, Inu Senior, gave her the job for a few reasons. You see, Inuyasha and Kagome were together for a year. But, when her half sister, Kikyo, had dumped her last boyfriend, Inuyasha took this opportunity to heart. He dumped Kagome, and soon after, married Kikyo, and moved to the U.S. Furious with his son, Inu never spoke with him since. He considered Kagome like a daughter, and hated seeing her upset. So, he gave her a job. But, during the years she was with Inu, the son, he always made sure to bring her to the house, when his brother was out on business. So, she only knew of the brother, but had never seen his face. And, this is also visa versa.

Now, Kagome works at one of the smaller jobs of the company, basically doing clerical work. She works alongside Sango, which so happened to be a friend of hers since high school. Her boss for this area though, she could be much happier without. Miroku, currently single, but usually going on dates with Sango, is still very much of a ladies man we all know and love. But, in the end, Kagome enjoys her work, and is very grateful that Inu Taisho-sama gave her the job. And so, she stays after at times to get her work done, which we come in, finding her doing. But, at the same time, since she ends up the only one on that floor working, we learn about her love of music, and how she seems to get caught up in it while working.

...

Inu Taisho, the owner of the company, has come up with a wonderful idea. He is currently getting the plans and all ready for the Company's Anniversary. Now, he plans on having both, his son Sesshomaru, and Kagome attend this event. He wants Kagome to come, so that she could enjoy herself, for once, get to know people...And perhaps meet someone again. If that would happen, he would be so happy. After all, she has been down, ever since her break-up, with his son Inu. He the decided, after most were gone, to go and invite her to this event, only to find her dancing to the music, from her headphones.

The two then converse, and have a brief argument on if she went or not. In the end, Kagome told him she would come, and he was pleased. He exited the building, and Kagome finished her work. She went home, to her apartment. And, from there, fed Buyo and herself, went over to the couch, and fell to sleep there.

The drive home

"Hello,"said the man, answering his cell phone. "Yes, I'll be staying for the party. Now, stop bothering me about this, father. I'll be back home shortly. Yes, I'll try not to act bored of everyone....Can we discuss more of this later? I am, after all, driving home this time, and so it'll take longer than usual. All right. Goodbye." He hung up, throwing the phone on the seat beside him, sighing. He laid his right arm over the seat he was sitting in, his hand on the wheel, and the car itself on cruise control. He wasn't in the mood to put much effort in driving. His right leg over his left.

He was wearing a white dress shirt with a red tie around his neck. His slacks were tan, and his shoes were a dark brown. His dress jacket was in the back of his convertible, which the top of it was currently down. This jacket was also a tan. Upon his wrist was a gold watch, being at the exact time as all the watches in his father's home were. His long, silver hair was flowing behind him as the wind ran through it. His magenta strips were more pronounced upon his pearly skin, especially with the moonlight shinning down upon him. He enjoyed the night more. It was more relaxing and quiet to him.

He then put on the radio, hearing some soft jazz playing. A grin rose upon his face. '...Perfect,' he thought to himself. He did so much love the sound of such music, but no one else knew that. Well, except for his father, who walked in while he was doing some work, hearing the music. Of course, he was furious that he entered without knocking, but in the end, Inu Taisho found out his son had the same interest in music as he did.

...

After a few more hours of driving, he pulled up the the front of his father's home. knowing he was welcomed inside already, he walked up the the door, entering. He closed the door behind him and heard the servant of the house speak.

"Welcome home, Sesshomaru-sama."

Sesshomaru looked up to see a green toad, in his tux attire, speaking to him. 'Probably being forced to wear it again,'thought Sesshomaru. "Good evening, Jaken. Tell me, is my father home?"

"Why, yes, m'lord. He's in front of the fire, reading as he usually does."

"Thank you, Jaken." He then handed the toad his jacket, and placed his phone back in his pocket. He then headed for the living room. Upon reaching, he stopped at the doorway. He saw his father was deep into a novel, a serious look upon his face.

"I know you are here, Sesshomaru. Come, have a seat."

"Hn,"is all he said, entering the room and sitting down at the chair opposite of his father. He didn't speak, knowing his father will be ready to talk when he'd raise his head from the book. Instead, he looked upon the fire, watching the dancing flames. He then heard the book shut, and he turned to see his father sighing heavily. It must have been a good book.

"Wonderful ending." He then placed the book on the table near him, and the clasped his hands in front of him, laying them on his lap. "So, how was your trip back?"

"You should know, father. You seem to talk to me through the whole thing."

Inu chuckled. "Yes, I suppose I did,"he then paused and started up again,"You must be tired from your trip. Your room's already prepared for you." He then got up, stretching, and then yawning. Of course, he covered his mouth. "If you'll excuse me, I'm actually quite tired."

Sesshomaru got up and nodded. "I'll see you in the morning, father." Then, while one left through one doorway, the other left through another.

...

While Inu Taisho got to bed, and to sleep, quite quickly, Sesshomaru did not have as much luck. He got undressed, and took a shower in his personal bathroom. He came back out, after drying himself off, and put on gray boxers. Her dried his hair the best her could, and then went over to his door, locking it. Sesshomaru then went over, sitting on the side of his bed.

He set his alarm, and clapped his hands together, turning off the lights, after setting his alarm. ((Yes, he has both arms.)) He pulled the covers down, and got into bed, pulling them back over him. He began to toss and turn, and he sighed. He clapped his hands again, the light turning on. He threw the covers off of him and he sat up. He was restless, thinking about that horrid event.

"It's a waste of time,"he said. But, he knew he couldn't get out of this one. So, as a last hope, her picked up a remote, turning on his stereo system in the corner of the room. Jazz played through the system. He then clapped, got under the covers again, and fell fast asleep.

....

Kagome yawned, waking up in a strange position. Her legs were brought up to herself, with one of the couch pillows in between her legs. Then, she had her right arm under the other pillow, and her hand shooting up from under it, and over her head. Her left hand was trapped under her body. She had fallen asleep at the couch, and had quite strange dreams about dogs dancing to DDR music, floating in the sky, wearing high heels. After rolling off the couch, she stood up, hearing cracks all through her back. "Man, I've gotta stop falling asleep on the couch." She then scratched her head, going to make some breakfast.
