Prompt: Dance

After the musical had ended and everyone was filing out of the theatre, Kagome couldn’t help the large smile that spread across her face.

That was soooo good! The plot, the dancing, the singing, everything about it was awesome!

She sneaked a look at her escort for the night, whose impeccable poker face was firmly in place.  As she was wont to do, she worried.

Did he not like the musical? Maybe I shouldn’t have invited him… He didn’t really seem to be enjoying himself.

Biting her lip, she glanced at him again.

“Would you join me for dinner tomorrow?” He said abruptly, turning to face her. She was so surprised she tripped. Catching herself just in time, she said, “I’d love to! What time and where?”

“Will around 7 be acceptable? I will pick you up from your home.”

“That works for me. See you then!” With that, Kagome turned to begin the walk home.

 Why did I just accept his invitation?

What am I doing? Why did I ask her out to dinner? More importantly, is she walking home?

The second that last thought formed in his head, he, being the gentleman that he was, walked towards the retreating figure of Kagome and called out. “Kagome. Do you require a lift?”

Startled, Kagome spun around and her heel slid. She was helpless to stop her descent towards the hard concrete. A single thought ran through her mind.

This is really gonna hurt.

She braced herself for the harsh impact of the ground that never came. Instead, she fell into a pair of arms. Said arms gently righted her and let go once their owner had determined she was steady.

“This seems to be my unlucky night,” Kagome said sheepishly. “I guess I’ll take up that offer of yours.”
