Red's Gemstone Challenge - Alexandrite

Prompt: Red’s Gemstone Challenge on Dokuga.com Forums – Alexandrite

AN: Dedicated all who left reviews about Kagura being a breeder. You know who you are.

~ooO Alexandrite Ooo~

Kagome was very pleased to see Kagura alive and well in the future.

“How are you?” she asked warmly hugging the kaze-youkai. “And who did you end up choosing as your mate? Ginta or Hakkaku?” Sesshoumaru and Shippo had refused to tell her, insisting she had to see for herself.

Uncharacteristically Kagura blushed hotly. “I actually didn’t choose.”

“What?”

“Both of them are my mates.”

Kagome blinked. “Is that even possible?”

“It is rare but yes,” Kagura said seriously. “They love me and treat all of our children equally.”

Kagome smiled warmly. “How many?” Because offspring was the original goal of the mating; life for life, to replenish the ookami-pack.

“Sixteen. My youngest girl is thirty-three and spending time with my eldest daughter.” She patted the slight curve at her waist hidden by the elegantly tailored suit. “I’m pregnant, with my fourth set of twins,” she admitted.

Kagome laughed. “I’m so happy! You are blessed and a blessing.”

Kagura smiled shyly. “It’s all because of you Kagome-sama. If you hadn’t spoken on my behalf, suggested I mate into the ookami pack…”

“I’m glad it turned out well.”

“I have a gift for you, for all you have done for me, us,” Kagura confided pulling a flat red silk bundle from her bag and passing it to Kagome with great ceremony.

The red silk embroidered with black and white butterflies. Carefully she loosened the red ribbon and unrolled the bundle. Lying on the red silk were three pretty kanzashi carved out of some dark almost black wood and decorated with red and green glass-like chips shaped into tiny red flowers surrounded by green leaves.

“The wood is from Bokusenou and capable of acting as an energy channel, strong enough to be used as a weapon. The gem chips are alexandrite. They are said to give luck, love, good fortune, and have magical powers. Alexandrite, with dual colours, represents the dual nature of all beings. Green is the colour of hope, revival, prosperity, peace, calm, and fertility. Red represents energy, activity, power, self-expression, power.”

Kagome gasped at the description of the gift. “It’s too much Kagura!”

“It isn’t even a down payment,” Kagura countered fiercely. “You gave me life, hope, the chance for a family. Everything I have is because of you. So please, accept it.”

Kagome carefully rewrapped the hair ornaments and tucked them into her bag. “If you insist then I will. Thank you for such a lavish and thoughtful gift.” She bowed shallowly.

Kagura’s expression was solemn as she returned the bow. “No, thank you.” Then it turned impish. “So tell me, how did your reunion go? Was it hot and heavy as I think it was?”

“Kagura!” Kagome blushed bright pink.

Kagura just laughed. “I’m asking because I know Ginta, Hakkaku and myself usually seclude ourselves for a week whenever we’ve been apart for more than a month. And Sesshoumaru was separated from you for centuries!” She smiled slyly. “So did he lock the two of you up for a week?”

Kagome’s expression softened. “Not nearly enough.” Then she sighed. “I’m looking forward to the wedding, so I can move into his home without raising eyebrows.” She giggled. “I can’t wait to show him off to my old school friends.” Kagura raised an inquiring brow. “It’s just that I had a hard time travelling into the past, many looked down on me for nearly failing, but a few friends stuck by me. I want them to meet Sesshoumaru.”

“You just want to see the shocked expressions when the snots find out you’re married to the one and only Nishimoto Sesshoumaru.”

“That too.”
