Ginta held out a rectangular embossed envelope. Kagura blinked and accepted it before carefully examining the seal. It was from the Western Lord. Curious to know she broken the seal and pulled out the stiff heavy stock card embossed with gilt and security spells. It was an invite to a mating reception. For Sesshoumaru and Kagome. She looked up at her smiling mate and knew he had known before her.

“How long have you known?”

“Three days. Shippo said Kagome was back and Sesshoumaru wanted to be the first to see her. Guess they are finally getting the reception they didn’t back then.”

Red eyes glinted. “We’re going back to Tokyo,” she ordered.

Ginta nodded obediently. “Yes dear.”

“Where is Hakkaku?”

Ginta smirked. “He’s wrapping up a few things. I’ve booked tickets for the three of us on the ten o’clock flight Tuesday morning. That will give us enough time to let the kids know. If they want they can follow us a few weeks later.”

Kagura smiled more genuinely. Both Ginta and Hakkaku spoiled her terribly, treated her like a queen in fact! But they were both her mates and the fathers of her children. Then a thought struck her.

“We need to find a gift for them. We won’t have time to look for a good one in Tokyo.”

“Do you have any ideas in mind?”

She looked around their apartment, furnished over the decades with one-of-a-kind and custom collectibles. Red eyes fell on a small statute, three wolves clustered together carved out of white and smoky quartz. The artisan had done an incredible job carving the wolves out of an easily stress-fractured substance. He was also her second mate, Hakkaku.

“Did Hakkaku finish that inu-youkai carving he was working on? The one in white and rose quartz?” she asked.

“I’m not sure. Why?”

“It would make a lovely mating gift for Kagome and Sesshoumaru.”
