“Kagome-chan!”

Kagome could have dropped down on her knees and chanted prayers in gratitude. Instead she flashed a bland smile at Hojo and said, “Sorry Hojo, gotta run. See you later.” And then she began just walking away very quickly, not running.

Ayumi was looking particularly amused. “He’s kind of like a puppy isn’t he,” she commented.

Kagome smiled sourly. “He’s worse than any puppy. And I’m running out of sticks to distract him.”

Yuka flashed a smile. “Well, if he doesn’t let up you can always show him pictures of your fiancé and threaten to sic him on Hojo.”

Kagome laughed out loud at the thought of siccing inu-Sesshoumaru on Hojo. It was an honest expression of real amusement. She was genuinely happy with her old friends. They had matured and come to respect her wishes to not talk about what had her so down, Eri especially. She didn’t need Sesshoumaru to keep Hojo off her back. She just had to let her friends handle him for her.
