Kagome wondered how on earth she was going to survive the rest of her life like this… splintered. She felt so alone, like she was falling apart, like she had left half her soul behind in the past. Perhaps she had. After all Urusei had ripped part of her soul off and used it to re-animate Kikyou’s clay and ashes body. And the heartache that had followed, InuYasha see-sawing between the two of them, giving her hope one minute and turning around to shatter her heart when he chose Kikyou… But this felt so much worse!

Unable to bear it, Kagome broke down and curled on her bed and wept silently.

Where are you Sesshoumaru?

She knew InuYasha had said he didn’t sense any youkai in her time but that didn’t mean anything. The Pied Piper spirit, the dehydrated youkai-fish… She turned and stared at the ceiling with a firm expression. No, there were traces of youkai in the future. InuYasha just didn’t have good enough senses to catch them.

She just had to survive long enough for Sesshoumaru to find her.
