Riku Ryuu's Prompt - Crown

AN: Ok people the next several updates are going to be really angsty and depressing. But they will get back together! I promise!

He had rushed back to the Bone Eaters well only to find it sealed. It had taken all his control to let his half-brother try. And he lost it when InuYasha failed to cross.

Everyone backed away from the daiyoukai. His markings were turning ragged, eyes blood red with teal slit pupils. They had seen Sesshoumaru enraged before and it had always ended in a blood bath. However one of the group did not retreat. In fact she approached the daiyoukai carrying a slightly crumbled wreath of flowers.

“Sesshoumaru-sama,” Rin’s usually cheerful voice was solemn but unafraid. “Please, do not get angry. Kaa-san is alive and well. You just have to wait for her.”

That bit of logic was enough to calm the daiyoukai. His eyes were red-tinged gold now. Rin stood beside him and held up her wreath.

“You just have to wait for her,” Rin repeated softly.

The daiyoukai accepted the wreath and examined the blossoms. The stems were knotted together and the wreath reinforced with braided grass. It was a technique Kagome had taught his ward, his daughter. Kagome had loved Rin, even before they became mates. And Rin had looked up to her. Besides, his daughter was right. He had the chance to see Kagome again, but Rin wouldn’t, not unless she mated a higher youkai with a long lifespan. Unlikely given youkai attitudes towards ningen.

Carefully he placed the wreath on Rin’s head, adjusting it until it rested on her hair like a crown, like Kagome would do.

“You are correct, Rin. This Sesshoumaru will wait.”
