Sesshoumaru had smirked inside his head, when his mate began ranting against his uncouth half-brother and the savage ookami. Her tongue definitely qualifies as a lethal weapon, his eyes glazed, in more ways than one. His thoughts drifted into very lustful avenues. Most of them involving her tongue and mouth wrapped around his cock.

The daiyoukai mentally shook his head and forced his attention back to the present, listening carefully to his mate’s words. He might not agree all her views but he would respect her by listening and giving them due consideration. The little miko was a treasure any sensible male would seek to win and Sesshoumaru had no intention of losing her due to his own inattentions, by ignoring her, by not giving consideration to what she felt. Like his stupid brother. Like the wolf.

A mate could be won in a challenge battle but keeping a sought after one was the true battle. Every female had the right to reject a mate if she felt he could no longer satisfy her needs, protect and provide. Sesshoumaru knew he could definitely protect and provide but humans had emotional needs that had to be satisfied. Treating her like he would a typical youkai onna, forcing her to stay with him… they were not acceptable options. Kagome would fight to escape; she was too spirited to submit tamely. Besides, she would be very unhappy if caged; and like a caged nightingale, she would refuse to sing and fade away.

Kagome had to be coaxed and seduced to share his views, to stay with him, to place him above all others, as he deserved. She was after all his. She would always be placed above all others in his eyes, she was his beloved, his mate, his treasure.
