Suikotsu had taken her to a small café in town, and despite the pain she had felt in her heart earlier… she felt it disappearing, the more time she spent with him.

He was quite charming; he was a pediatrician, and he was very kind.

She felt guilty that such a kind heart was being so nice to her, a bitter, vindictive woman.

“I am not without faults,” she said, responding to a question he had asked her. He chuckled, taking his coffee to his lips and drinking.

“Well, I would not expect you to be perfect.” He said, putting his cup down. “No one is perfect. We all have flaws, but it’s learning to live past them and to overcome them that makes us who we are. Don’t you agree?” He asked. She smiled, nodding her head.

She was being a gift of redemption from the gods, and she would not let them down.

“You are too kind to me, Suikotsu. I must thank you for your generosity. I was… lost, for quite a while. I let my bitterness take my heart. I will not let that happen again.” She said, looking down to her cup with half lidded eyes.

“I was lost for a while, myself.” He admitted, looking out to the window. “I was so angry at everything. I felt like such a monster.” He smiled, and looked to her with solemn eyes. “A child came to me and asked me why I was so upset. At her smile, I felt everything that had darkened my heart wash away, and redemption felt more like an option.”

“Is that when you decided to become a doctor?” She asked. He nodded, drinking his coffee once more.

“I decided to take all of the passion I had and devote it to medicine. It has been a great release for me, and I feel more like a human again.” He said, looking to her. “Though, I feel alone. I have my patients, and yet… I want more.”

Kikyo gasped, feeling as if she had known this man for a long time. He was so alike to her that it was amazing. Two tortured, terrified souls, finding salvation…

It was destiny.

“So do I…” She whispered, her lips parting as he smiled a dazzling grin to her.

“I would love to see you again,” he confessed, hoping she would agree. She did, and his heart sang.

“So would I, Suikotsu.” She stood with him, kissing his cheek. “Thank you, for everything.”

“Until we meet again, Kikyo.” He said, giving her his phone number. She took it, giving him hers.

“I look forward to it.”

A/N: In case you already read the last chapter, I changed Bankotsu to Suikotsu instead. I had forgotten about his character!
