OOOOOO

Kagome couldn't win against Kagura. She knew it with all her heart. She was untrained in her miko powers and just about every other fighting aspect, but still she rushed at the demon, her bow surging with her holy power. She skillfully shot an arrow, but it flew past Kagura.

The incarnation turned her head and glared at the miko angrily. Kagome took a quick step back in shock. She was surprised she had even gotten the wind demoness' attention. Unfortunately, Kagome wasn't ready for the attack that came after.

The inexperienced miko raised her arms in front of her face, trying to protect herself from the onslaught of wind blades that were thrown at her. Coming to her rescue, InuYasha grabbed her and jumped away from where Kagura had aimed.

“Why can't you just stay out of the way, wench!?” he growled angrily.

“I just didn't want you to get hurt!” she shouted back, pouting.

The killer look in his eyes softened slightly, but he retorted, “I will get hurt if you keep making me be your keeper!”

She looked after him as he leaped back into the battle, saying nothing. The hanyou was already injured, blood seeping through his red Firerat robes, but still he blamed her? Was it really her fault? She found herself so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't notice as the battling pair almost trampled her. Kagome stumbled and fell as Kagura jumped around the attacking hanyou, kicking dirt and sand at the huddling priestess.

Kagome grumbled, picking herself up, dusting herself up, and jogging to Sango's side. Sango looked her over once, grinned, and began battling again. Kagome helped when she could, frowning while she fired practically useless arrows. Kagome prayed she wouldn't always be such a burden.
