A Nerd You Can't Avoid by Kitsuki

Chapter 1- The Nerd

  Sesshoumaru once again looked up at the school exam results on the bulletin board. He was once again tied with this "Higurashi" person. Ever since the last semester started, he has spotted that name everywhere. In the library book check out cards, the test results, and everything that you could put a name on. He couldn't remember seeing someone study, much less read a lot. He thought everyone at this God forsaken school was full of idiots and didn't know what a library was. But apparently not, since there was at least one person up to par with him. At least someone in this college had a brain. 'This Sesshoumaru needs to study more.'

He walked down the hallway and was left to his thoughts. He had taken more classes since the semester started to keep his mind off his so called family. His father had finally decided to bring in his mistress and half brother to the main house and couldn't stand a minute longer to stay in that house with that woman. Not that the woman was annoying or anything, he just didnt want to have another mother to call his own. He already had one, but left home without a word. Apparently more time at school had distracted him, for it seemed he now had a rival and had to work even harder for first place. He never knew there was someone actually smart enough to rank right next to him on the exam board.  

"Who can this 'Higurashi' be." he mumbled to himself, as he walked to his next class.  

He decided to get to his class early than he should of, not wanting to stand around doing nothing and decided to head over to his last class of the day. As he entered the classroom, he had noticed someone sitting in his seat and not the one to give up territory, he walked up to that so called person. He looked down at the girl sitting in his seat, as she read the notes for the class they were in. She didn't stand out like the rest for the girls that always wanted his attention, but of course he would never give the time of day.  

She wore a tacky white sweater, long black and green plaid skirt that reached to her knees, long white socks and brown shoes there were almost worn out. Her square glasses were so thick and her silky black braided pig-tails screamed nothing but nerd. She didn't dress to impress like other girls, but still Sesshoumaru still huffed in disgust on her dress attire. Out of all the empty seats in the class! why did she choose his. Of course his seat was in the back corner of the room near a window.  

He cleared his throat, thinking that him just standing there wouldn't break her out of her focus from reading, and waited for her to look up. When she didn't, he lost his patience.  

"Girl, you are in this Sesshoumaru's seat."  

The girl stopped her reading and looked up from her seat and to the person speaking to her.   

Sesshoumaru got a good look a her eyes before she stared directly at  him with her thick glasses. A beautiful earthy brown eyes gazed into his golden orbs and she answered in a quiet voice, "oh...I'm sorry...I didn't know."  

She quickly rose and collected her belongings and choose another seat, which was the seat to the right of him and continued to read. Sure there were no assigned seats and was a first come first served basis, but this seat had the best view out the window, where you have the perfect view of the Sakura tree which was located in the middle of the school. He set his books on his desk and proceeded to reading until class started.  

Sesshoumaru mentally sighed and turned to look outside the window and felt that this day was going to be a long one.
