Chapter 397: Absolution

Naraku gave no warning before he took a hold of the lethargic female’s shoulders and forced her under the water. At first, she struggled, responding instinctively, as her fingers automatically dug into the skin of his wrists, her dark hair obscuring her face. And then as the seconds ticked by, Kagome seemed to settle down as she realized what was exactly happening to her and why.

Bubbles of oxygen came from her nose while she attempted to retain what little air she had left in her lungs.

But eventually, the time came when she could no longer hold her breath.
