Chapter 384: Animus

“That still doesn’t answer anything,” Kagome muttered. “Is it too much for me to hope that you’re not actually scheming something?”

“No,” Naraku told her. “I’ve other interests that take priority.”

“Like?”

“Like trying to remove the thing that’s poisoning your soul. It’s not a physical infection like you all believed.” He shot a look at the three daiyoukai in the room. Shadows obscured their expressions.

The miko spoke quietly, “What does that mean?”

“Just think of Kohaku-kun and the Shikon shard. The Jewel sustained his life, but I controlled him. This is not so different.”

“And you’re… helping?”

“Maybe.”
