“Can you keep yourself together for this?”

Naraku would have scoffed at the almost worried tone the miko bestowed upon him, wondering if even after all this time she would spare some of her compassion. Stupid girl.

“I’d hope that you would at least get rid of your poison in my system before you die again.”

Ah, there it was…

He glowered up at her with wicked red eyes. “Are you prepared to step into this circle? Your dogs won’t be able to protect you then.”

Kagome deliberately crossed the border of the salt line. “I’m not afraid of you.”

A/N: It seems like for every A/N I apologize for not updating in a while. And even though I am sorry for posting so infrequently, I’m rather excited to be back to move the story forward. As always, I have been drabbling on the side whenever inspiration happens to strike and am quite pleased with my muse for not giving up on this fic. Did you know that BOAF is almost 4 years old? FOUR. And as of yesterday, it has a total of 555 bite-sized “chapters.” We’re not done yet, but… it’s progress!

So, thanks for all of the critiques/notes/reminders-of-potential-plot-holes so far. Hopefully, this next arc won’t let you guys down. And if anything makes you upset (neverending convos, slow plot progression, etc.), just blame Naraku. ;)
