“Whatever happened to your mutt and those darling friends of yours? I find it quite odd and rude that they weren’t there to greet me when I returned.” Naraku tapped his chin thoughtfully, eyes glittering like rubies. “It seems that much has transpired since I’ve been away. But I can’t say I’m too disappointed. The company you keep is impressive, Kagome-chan.”
“I don’t need your approval,” Kagome glibly retorted, the absence of her friends making her feel lonelier than ever. “And I don’t have to explain myself to you.”
“Oh?”
“Unless you want Shuuko to find you, change the subject.”
