Chapter 319: Freedom

Kazuya frowned. “It was–”

“An accident?” Kagome interrupted. “How often do you hear somebody getting a splinter in their foot?” At his silence, she went on, “Thought so. I must be the unluckiest person in the world.”

“Don’t say that,” he admonished. “We wouldn’t have met if it wasn’t for your experiences.”

The smell of salt had his eyes widening in alarm.

“Y-you’re no better than a s-slave because of me!”

His gaze softened. “A vassal is not much different, Kagome. I’m still under your and Milady’s command.”

She sobbed. “But my orders t-take away your honor!”
