Chapter 318: Misery Loves Company

“Gods, I can’t do anything right.”

Ears twitching, Kazuya’s hands stilled, fingers gentle around Kagome’s ankle. The woman was on her back with an arm draped over her face and another across her abdomen. Her knuckles were white as she squeezed the fabric of her yukata.

“What do you mean?” the male asked carefully, taking her foot and placing it onto his lap. “What has brought about this sudden hopelessness?”

A laugh burst from her lips. It was a broken sound. “The splinter in my heel, for one. Only something as stupid as that would happen to me.”
