Chapter 316: This or That

“But I don’t want him!” Kagome winced after her callous remark. “Sorry, Kazuya-san.”

He smiled wanly, wanting nothing more than to disappear into the shadows where he was comfortable. The spotlight was not the most enviable place to be at the moment.

Kagome ran a hand down her face. “You make it sound like I own him, which is ridiculous, not to mention incredibly rude. He’s not a possession, Sesshoumaru-sama!”

“Do you prefer his death or exile, miko? Choose wisely.”

“What? No!” Kagome exclaimed. “He’s not going anywhere!”

Sesshoumaru sneered. “Then he will remain as your pet.”

A/N: I know the whole “Chosen” concept is confusing at the moment. It is intentional. The word itself has been mentioned twice in the story so far… Once with Touga-sama and now with our lovely trio. It’ll probably make more sense to remember that Kagome is not an inu-youkai. :)

Oh, and on a curious note, I wonder if my mischievous hybrid has any fans out there? Kazu-kun is rather…an interesting character to flesh out. Please treat him kindly.
