Sesshoumaru concluded his impromptu grooming session with a nuzzle behind her ear and a quick lick on her cheek. The priestess frowned slightly as she wiped away his saliva with her–his–sleeve.

“Why do you keep licking me?”

“This one is pleased.”

“About?” she asked, voice curious.

“Your trust. It is essential for a strong pack.”

“Oh.” Kagome blushed, strangely embarrassed. “I thought it was only natural.”

Sesshoumaru cocked his head, reminding her greatly of a curious dog.

“You’ve taken care of me since… Since…” Her blue eyes suddenly welled up with tears. “Y-you know…”
