Chapter 273: Guilt

Sesshoumaru felt that uncomfortable churning in his gut again as he gazed at Kagome. The woman looked like a bird that had its wings broken. It was a pitiful sight.

He didn’t like it.

Not knowing why, he raised his hand and found himself staring at it in fascination as he cupped her cheek. She didn’t meet his eyes until she leaned into his palm, sighing sadly. He came to the realization that he didn’t care for that either. It was utterly strange.

At her sniffle, he caved. “Kagome?”

She didn’t respond, only withdrawing from him. And he let her.
