Chapter 233: Enduring

Satisfied with his inspection, Sesshoumaru patted Kanna’s head, amused when her eyes widened and she bumped into his father’s legs. The pale female immediately hid her face in Touga’s hakama, trembling with relief.

“She is different,” Sesshoumaru commented. “Yet familiar.”

Touga nodded. “Death changes most.”

“But not you.”

“No… Not me,” he murmured. He pushed his ponytail over his shoulder, lifting Kanna with one arm. The child squealed in delight, grabbing a fistful of his mokomoko.

As the Dog General came to walk beside him, Sesshoumaru pretended not to notice the sadness in the older man’s smile.
