A New Power

"Now Inuyasha," Kagome shouted.

"Hell yeah!" was Inuyasha response as he let his attack fly as Kagome let her arrow fly.

The combined attack set off a beautiful but deadly show of lights. The on lookers looked on expectantly all hoping for the same result, but when the dust cleared Naraku stood strong not effected by the attack at all.

"Why in the hell want you die?" Inuyasha shouted as Naraku sent another attack in their direction.

Naraku only grinned in reply, "That is because Inuyasha, I still have one more trick up my sleeve," he paused turning to look at the other silver heard demon on the battle field. "No, Lord Sesshomaru I see you trying to move. You don't want little Miss Rin getting hurt do you?"

At the words the little girl whimpered loudly as Kohaku tightened his hold on the little girl’s neck. Sesshomaru kept his eyes on Naraku with a look of indifference, but rage danced behind his golden eyes.

"All this is really getting old don't you agree Kagome?" Naraku spoke again looking at Kagome his grin growing even more horrible. A cold chill raced down Kagome's spine by the look he was giving her making her scrim.

Inuyasha stepped in front of Kagome blocking Naraku's view. "Bastard if you’re getting so tired of this just  us the jewel shards and crawl back into whatever hole you crawled out of."

When Naraku only laughed in reply Inuyasha jumped towards him swiping his sword at him, but Naraku had disappeared. The whole field froze as the sky darkened the tension rose even Naraku's minions looked around in surprise.

Then in a blink of an eye the whole sky filled with demons and was bearing down on everyone on the field.

"No way," Shippo shirked.

"It has to be millions!" Miroku shouted.

"Lord Sesshomaru!" Rin shouted dashing towards her lord once Kohaku had let her go to protect himself from the demons that now attack all of them.

"Jaken, protect Rin!" Sesshomaru shouted as he cut down a demon making its way towards the girl.

"Inuyasha watch out!" Kagome shouted as she was picked up by Inuyasha and he dodged at least ten demons at once. Setting Kagome down Inuyasha used the wind scare which didn't even make a dent in the number of demons bearing down on them.

The true battle was on.

Arrow after Arrow Kagome shot but all were useless even with the combined efforts of Inuyasha.

"Inuyasha we need to get out of here!" Kagome shouted shooting her last arrow.

"You see a way out stupid?" Inuyasha shouted in frustration as he dodges and sent another wind scare into a wall of demons.

"Do you see the others?" Kagome asked.

Inuyasha didn't answer he only sent a few more attacks at the demons coming towards them.

Then he saw it a demon bearing down on Kagome who was defenseless, it was too close to use the wind scare on. So he dashed towards Kagome pushing her out of the way roughly.

Kagome fell, her head slamming hard against a boulder she was near and her vision exploded into a world of white.

She blinked once than twice as her vision cleared and she stared at the white ceiling.

"She's awake!" A shout was the first thing she heard as the sound of quick beeping fallowed and the smell of hospital disinfectant and food filled her nose.

Faces came into view as people looked over her. she recognized her mother and was surprised to see tears falling from her eyes, her grandpa stood back a little relief clearly on his features. Her little brother stood beside her mother taller then she remembered holding onto their mothers shoulders as the shook.

"wh-," she tried to speak only to discover she couldn't.

"Don't force yourself Kagome you want be able to speak awhile it'll pass I'm sure." A dark haired man spoke she assumed him to be a doctor as he smiled kindly.

Kagome tried to sit up only to discover how difficult it was. Seeing her trying to move the doctor quickly helped her sit up.

"I'll leave you all alone for a while." the doctor spoke. "I'll be back later to check on Miss Kagome later."

"Kagome I'm so happy you’re awake." Her mother gave her a tight hug as she continued to cry.

Kagome could only hug back in confusion. She tried to speak again but failed. Souta noticed, and handed her a notepad and a pencil.

What happened?

Kagome wrote handing it back to her brother who showed it to their mother.

"Oh dear," Kagome's mother said softly and looked at Kagome's grandfather.

"Kagome you remember falling down the well when you went looking for buyo don't you?" Her grandfather asked.

Kagome frowned, and wondered what that had to do with anything. She nodded anyway.

"We found you at the bottom of the well and we rushed you to the hospital. It seems you had hit your head pretty hard and you had some swelling on the brain they had to go in and operate on your brain." Her grandfather explained. "You've been in a coma ever sense"

Kagome quickly took her notepad back from her brother.

What about Inuyasha?

She wrote quickly handing the pad back to her brother.

"Who's Inuyasha?" her brother asked reading the pad.

At the sudden deepness of her brother’s voice her eyes widen taking the note pad back.

How long?

She handed it back to her brother who handed it to his mother and the room had gone very quiet except the steady beat of a heart monitor.

"Three years Kagome." Her mother finally said.

Kagome swallowed taking the note pad back she pointed at one of the questions again.

"Who's Inuyasha Kagome?" Her brother asked again.

"Is it a type of snack, are you hungry Kagome? I'm not sure if you can eat yet are not. Let me go ge-" Kagome shaking her head harshly interrupted her mother.

She was about to write something else when the the door opened and the doctor returned.

"Well I need to check out Kagome real quick you all are welcome back in when I'm finished."

Kagome fell asleep right after Dr. Tisho checked her out, now she sat in a wheel chair a day after she had awaken waiting on her mother to arrive and take her outside to get some air.

She was confused and sure whatever was going was a mistake and somehow her mother bother and grandfather had forgotten about Inuyasha and forgotten she traveled 500 years into the past searching pieces of a magical jewel she had broken and daily her life was threatened by demons.

Kagome sighed loudly staring at the curtain that separated her from the patient that she shared the room with. She glared at the curtain mad at the stupid nurse that had faced her towards it.

The steady beat of the heart monitor of the patient beyond the curtain annoyed her greatly and with another great sigh of frustration she ripped the curtain back. Kagome's breath left her as she stared at the patient in the bed.

Their eyes were closed but even without that it was no mistaking who the patient was.

The silver hair and the markings astonished Kagome so much she let out a squeal.

"Poor dear was found in an alley a year ago, you and him have been roommates from that day.  He's in a coma just like you." Kagome turned to find her mother standing behind her she put some flowers on the table next to the bed. "It’s a shame no one ever comes to visit him." her mother said sadly.

"That's because he's a freak." Souta spoke up as he entered the room.

"Souta," His mother shirked giving him a stern glare.

"Well it's the truth why is his hair that color? And who tattoos their face like that?" He said rudely.

Kagome ignored them as her mother began to scold Souta. She turned back to the sleeping man.

"Sesshomaru?" her simple word caused many reactions.

The mother and son stopped bickering and a pair of golden eyes opened.

=

A pair of intense golden eyes stared into Kagome's brown ones unfocused for a while then slowly focused.

"Oh dear is he awake?" Kagome's mother said softly over Kagome's shoulder. "Quickly Souta, go get Dr. Tisho tell him."

Sesshomaru couldn't understand why he was lying down, are why it smelled so bad were ever he was. He couldn't understand why everything was so bright, and he couldn't understand why his half-brother’s wench was so close to him.

He tried to move but found it extremely hard, he found himself being helped sit up by a human that had just entered the room.

"This is so amazing both patients sharing a room  only a hours after each other." Dr. Tisho said excitedly.

"Why are his eyes that color?" Souta blurt in.

Dr. Tisho made an hmm noise before producing a small flash light and flashing it over Sesshomaru's eyes.  A loud growl from Sesshomaru then he snatching the light from the doctor’s hands and throwing it across the room barley missing Souta.

"Oh dear," Kagome's mother said softly.

The room had grown very quiet as Sesshomaru glared at Dr. Tisho and Dr. Tisho glared at him. Kagome moved forward blocking Sesshomaru's view of Dr. Tisho.

"Do yo- you remember me?" Kagome managed to get out.

Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow in response opening his mouth only to close it again when nothing came out. Instead he only nodded.

"You know him Kagome?" Dr. Tisho asked. "He's been here for over year and no one ever came forward telling who he was."

"How do you know him Kagome?" Kagome's mother asked when Kagome hadn't answered Dr. Tisho.

Kagome wasn't sure how she should answer, telling the truth seemed stupid for a couple reasons. Dr. Tisho was in the room and would probably have her put into a mental facility. Her family didn't seem to remember Inuyasha are the fact she traveled 500 years into the past.

"I don't remember." she lied.

"Well I'm going to have to check him out. He doesn't look very cooperative though we might have to use restraints." Dr. Tisho said.

"NO!" Kagome said quickly. Everyone in the room stared at her surprised at the outburst.

"Let me talk to him first okay?" Kagome asked.

Dr. Tisho pushed his glasses up, "I guess if that will help. I have surgery in fifteen minutes anyway, I'll be back tomorrow."

Kagome looked at her mother and brother after Dr. Tisho left waiting for them to leave. Of course her mother got the hint faster and dragged Souta out of the room.

"Sesshomaru, this has to be Naraku's doing." Kagome said quickly.

"What?" Was the only thing Sesshomaru could get out.

"We're in my time, well not really we're three years into the future well I am your 500 hundred years into the future." Kagome tried to explain the best she could but ended up making herself confused.

Sesshomaru only stared at her, he was sure the girl had gone insane.

"I Guess I should start from the beginning." Kagome said. "You see I'm really from 500 hundred years into the future and I fell into a well that transported me into the past. You see the problem is my family doesn't remember any of that.  They say the day I fell into the well I hit my head at the bottom and I've been in a coma. But that can't be right because your here and you remember me I can tell by the look you gave me when you first woke up."

Sesshomaru wasn't sure what exactly was going on but he was sure he wasn't on a battle field fighting Naraku.

"Where are we?" He spoke his voice just how Kagome remembered deep and indifferent.

"A hospital I'm guessing. What could Naraku be planning?" she asked shaking her head.

Pulling the covers away from him Sesshomaru stood with ease and Kagome stared at him. Dr. Tisho had told her she would need therapy for at least three months to begin walking again which he had said her recovery was the best he had ever seen.

Sesshomaru had already started his way toward the door; Kagome quickly took hold of his blue pajama shirt.

"You can't just go walking around like that Sesshomaru." Kagome said.

Sesshomaru stared down at her, "Why not?"

"There's no demons here you can't walk around like your still Lord of the western lands." with the look he was giving her, Kagome corrected herself. "Listen the world is different then you remember it. The way you look is going to get you enough attention but you can't go around killing people for bumping into you."

"What's wrong with the way this Sesshomaru looks? What do you mean no demons here?" Sesshomaru was now looking out the window in the room which was open and the noises outside finally caught up with his slowly returning senses.

"Just let the doctor check you out Sesshomaru, he means no harm." Kagome said softly.

Sesshomaru sat back onto the bed; he was adjusting to the new smells and sounds. The girl made sense something was wrong. Sesshomaru wasn't stupid he would listen to the girl for now.

The next day Sesshomaru was checked out by Dr. Tisho who was amazed by his fast recovery and both he and Kagome were released from the hospital. Kagome had talked her mother into letting Sesshomaru stay with them into he remembered were he came from.

"Where's Souta?" Kagome asked once Sesshomaru had helped her out of her wheel chair into the car.

"School, it’s his first day of junior high. You should have seen him this morning Kagome; he kept coming back because he had forgotten things." Her mother laughed as she started the car.

Kagome smiled out the window, she glanced at Sesshomaru who was so engrossed in the things happening outside the car he looked like a curious child.

"He doesn't talk much dose he Kagome?" Her mother had caught her looking at him.

"No he doesn't talk much at all." Kagome answered.

Her mother glanced at her again "You never told me Kagome?" Her mother asked.

"School I think." Kagome avoided her mother's eyes.

"That's funny because your friends never heard of him before." Her mother gave Kagome a suspicious look.

Kagome decided to stare out the window to avoid her mother looks. As they came to a stop light and the people went by talking on cell phones and in business suits and very familiar head of wavy black hair and a very familiar face with red eyes passed the car, made Kagome's heart sink and her mouth drop.

Kagome wondered had she seen things as the light turned green and her mother stepped on the gas.

"I thought you said there were no demons here, Kagome?" Sesshomaru whispered rising forward seeing the same thing she had.

=

Sesshomaru easily pulled back the four pieces of wood that covered the well. He stared down into the dark depths of the well seeing nothing that would back up Kagome's story of a well that could transport you 500 years into the past.

"This is the well you say transported you into the past?" Sesshomaru asked. He turned to look at Kagome who sat in her wheel chair.

Kagome watched Sesshomaru stare into the well and couldn't help but be amazed the whole thing had a surreal effect to it. Here stood Sesshomaru in a black t-shirt the hospital had given them and gray sweat pants, and short silver hair.

Kagome thought he almost fit in if it weren't for the tattooed face and the natural feel of superiority that you automatically felt when around him.

"Yes, well at least that's how I remember it." Kagome said. "Can you pick me up Sesshomaru?" His response was a raised eyebrow.

Kagome sighed very quietly, "I need you to pick me up and jump into the well to see if it still works." Kagome clarified.

Sesshomaru easily picked Kagome up from the chair and walked towards the well. The return of both of his arms surprised him; he hadn't noticed he had both into the car ride to Kagome's home.

Jumping into the well and landing on the bottom happened without fail, and without the magical light Kagome was so use to.

Kagome looked up only to see the top of the well house. Dread filled her she looked at Sesshomaru who was also looking up.

Kagome took a step then another small bead of sweat trickled down the side of her face. Her hair was already sticking to the side of her face.

"Kagome you can stop now." Her trainer said. "You already made way more progress then normal for your first week."

The trainer made Kagome sit back into her wheel chair, and handed her a bottle of water. "Well Sesshomaru  you can take her home now, and make sure she doesn't try walking for our next session." the man pushed Kagome over to Sesshomaru who waited patiently.

Pushing Kagome out of the hospital Sesshomaru started towards Kagome's home.

It had been a week , the failed attempt down the well. A week sense they had saw are at least thought they had saw Naraku.

Sesshomaru was starting to fit in very well at least at the shrine, he still received weird looks and whispers from the outside world. That was the reason he hardly left the shrine except to take Kagome to her appointments, which was Kagome's mother's idea.

Kagome's mother liked Sesshomaru even with his cold personality and his lack of conversation skills. He still was respectful and he kept her daughter company when she wasn't around, and she was sure he could protect her.

Souta and Grandpa on the other hand didn't like Sesshomaru at all.  Grandpa who was convinced, that Sesshomaru was some kind of demon.

"Your mother wanted you to pick up these things." Sesshomaru said producing a small folded piece of paper from his black dress pants pocket handing it to Kagome.

Kagome smiled looking up at Sesshomaru, "You and my mother are becoming really good friends huh?"

Sesshomaru shrugged, "Your mother is tolerable."

Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes at a group of high school kids pointing at them; he did not like all this attention.

"Tolerable?" Kagome asked, also noticing the group. "Am I tolerable?" Kagome said trying to distract Sesshomaru.

"You talk too much, but more tolerable then most in this world." Sesshomaru said continuing to push Kagome.

"We have to stop at the store Sesshomaru." Kagome informed. Sesshomaru didn't say anything but Kagome was sure he had heard.

Sesshomaru growled they had stopped Kagome turned to look at Sesshomaru who was staring at something she couldn't see because his body blocked her view.

A loud familiar chuckle broke through the sudden silence that had crept up on them. Kagome looked around suddenly aware that everything had frozen.

The group of high school students still stood pointing at them with frozen smiles. Everyone and everything had frozen around them the scene made Kagome's body shiver.

"Well Sesshomaru you seem to be fitting in quit well." the voice surprised Kagome just as much as it didn't. She had been suspecting this.

Wheeling herself around she stared at Naraku who was dressed in a business suit. Short dark wavy hair and thin glasses couldn't hide that this was indeed Naraku.

"Naraku, so this is your doing." Sesshomaru growled.

"My doing how could is that?" Naraku feigned innocents. "Lord Sesshomaru, I have no idea what you’re talking about."

Annoyed with the games, Sesshomaru sprang towards Naraku nails dripping his poison. He swiped at Naraku's head only to hit air.

Sesshomaru turned and glared at Naraku coolly with watchful eyes. Naraku grinned as he held Kagome to his chest his claws placed over her neck, and Kagome went stiff.

"This looks familiar doesn't it Sesshomaru?" Naraku asked. "I wouldn't move if I were you. You don't want Kagome getting hurt do you?"

"What makes you think I care?" He sprang again.

Naraku only grinned as he jumped to avoid Sesshomaru's attack still holding onto Kagome. Landing a little ways away on top of a small shop, tearing into Kagome's arm with his claws, then he pushed her from the edge of the building.

Kagome scream was cut short as Sesshomaru caught her setting her on the ground he looked back at were Naraku should have been. Of course he wasn't and the street sounds returned.

The High school Kids looked around in confusion at the empty wheel chair and the girl sitting on the ground a little ways away, and the tall silver haired man standing over her.

“Thank you,” Kagome mumbled as she was returned to her wheel chair.

Sesshomaru ignored her as he continued to look around the moving people his eyes searching. His eyes locked with a pair of blank blue ones a little ways away. He went to move after those eyes but felt a small tug at the bottom of his shirt.

“I think he’s gone Sesshomaru,” Kagome announces trying to keep the demon from roaming around the city.

Sesshomaru pushes down his annoyance and removes her hand from his shirt. “This Sesshomaru understands that, but tell me do you not feel the eyes watching us?”

Kagome brow deepens she glances around quickly noticing a tall male with dark hair and blue eyes watching them easily. She also notices behind them are three others deep in an alley their eyes glowing a demonic red.

“Are they demons?” Kagome asks softly.

“They are hiding it well, but they are indeed.” Sesshomaru says.

The one with the blue eyes begins to make his way towards them and he moves by them mumbling only a few words. “It would do you well to mask yourself.” With that the demon was gone into the crowd the demons in the alley also leaving.

The heavy sound of rain coming down on the roof was the only thing heard in the silent living room as the silent miko and demon sat quietly in thought. Kagome sat on floor her legs stretched out before her trying lightly to move them her mind on Naraku and the demons from yesterday.  Sesshomaru stood by the window peering out on the dark day as the family cat zoomed across the yard for a tree to hide under.

Sesshomaru sensed the attack coming moving away from the window he quickly moved towards the girl he picked her up moving from the window just as a flaming ball tore through the living room. Kagome let out a horrified scream as Sesshomaru burst through the ceiling of their home landing by the well house.

“What was that?” The miko shouted as Sesshomaru sat her leaning against the house.

“You are continuingly proven wrong miko, another demon has attacked us.” Sesshomaru says watching the area the demon would appear.

A demon appeared about the size of a bike it let out another fire ball form its mouth Sesshomaru easily dodged it. His poison whip appeared and he easily destroyed the low level demon. The real threat was coming.

The rain continued to pour heavily down on them and lightning flashed in the sky followed by thunder that made Kagome jump. Silence was heavy even over the sound of the rain and Kagome’s burning home.

A figure appeared dressed in all-out battle gear in its hand was a glowing pole. The power coming from the being was miko energy for sure. They were powerful and their very being made the air lighter and purer.

He was on Sesshomaru faster than any human should be his glowing pole heading towards Sesshomaru forcing him to dodge.

Kagome watched in horror as Sesshomaru was put on the defensive by a human who possessed purifying powers. Kagome watched as Sesshomaru hand moved for his sword realizing it wasn’t there his face twisted in pain as the edge of the pole hit his arm and his arm busted open sizzling.  Sesshomaru moved further away producing his whip with his good hand he quickly sent his attack towards the human. He was surprised when it made contact thinking the quick human would dodge it. Instead the whip hit the man’s face mask making fall away revealing a young male face.

Sesshomaru went to attack again only to find a glowing whip around his neck burning so bad it brought him to the ground his whip vanishing.

Kagome watched completely horrified as Sesshomaru was taken down. The smell of him being purified was almost too much for her. She watched as the man’s whip vanished and his pole appeared again bring it up high ready to finish Sesshomaru who was still on the ground coughing and hold his burned neck.

Kagome with much effort pushed up as quickly as she could with her unused muscles she threw herself in front of Sesshomaru with the best burrier she could muster. She pole dug into the barrier, but fell flat its glow faded.

Kagome watched the surprised look come over the monks face at her barrier then his eyes hardened as he produced a bow and arrow from power alone and aimed.

Kagome was sure her barrier wouldn’t hold another round. She tried to think of something anything. Movement from her left caught her attention and the attention of the attacker. He took the aim from them and towards a demon who sat on top of the well house.

“No!” Kagome yelled as the arrow missed the demon but not the well house. Her barrier fell. Three demons appeared surrounding the monk.

Kagome felt a presence behind her and turned ready to protect herself and Sesshomaru. The blue eyed demon from before was standing over the now unconscious Sesshomaru the rain making his hair stick to him.

“If you stay here the monk will destroy you.” The demon spoke his voice soft. “Come with us, if you won’t that not to happen.”

Kagome looked back at the monk who was attacking the demons who were making sure to stay just out of reach of his attacks.

“Quickly, we have no time for this.” The demon said quickly.

Kagome nodded, “good.” The demon said scooping up Sesshomaru easily. Another demon appeared besides her taking her into his arms they disappeared with a flash of lightning.
