Strut by Lady Midnight

Chapter 1

“You want me to what?!” Kagome yelled in shock at Sango her agent.

“Oh calm down Kagome it’s not that big a deal.” Sango said without looking up from her blackberry.

“Sango!” Kagome complained, “Why would you make me dress as a guy?!”

“Because it’s a men’s clothing line.” Sango said in a “duh” sort of way.

Kagome rolled her eyes, “In case you haven’t noticed,” Kagome pointed to her bust, “I’m a woman.”

“Really?” Sango asked sarcastically.

“Anyway, no.”

Sango smirked devilishly, “I thought you’d say that. So I already booked you for it, and it’s for charity, so you can’t back out.”

Kagome glared at her, “Jerk.” She muttered.

“Thank you.” Sango smiled and walked toward the door, “go get ready, it’s tonight.”

With that she walked out the door. Growling inhumanly, she walked into the bathroom to take a shower.

Sango looked at her phone when the screen lit up signaling she had a message.

Is she going?

Sango replied, of course. You better be there.

Wouldn’t miss it.

Sango chewed on her bottom lip and glanced over her shoulder. She wasn’t sure about setting her best friend up like this, but some things need to be done.

‘You’ll thank me later Kags.’

~With Kagome~

Looking in the mirror Kagome fixed her wig, she had tied her long black hair into a bun and put on the cropped wig Sango had gotten her for tonight. She had on black jeans with sparkles on the back pockets, black converse, and a red shirt with a sparkly black dragon on it. Kagome couldn’t help but thinking that if she were a man, she would totally look gay.

“And they actually plan on guys buying and wearing these.” Kagome mumbled rolling her eyes.

A knock at her door caused her to look up. “Who is it?” She called.

“Delivery!” A boy called.

‘Delivery?’ Kagome stood straight and, confused, walked to the door. Opening it she saw a small boy bellboy. His uniform seemed to be ten times too big, and his hat was tilted to one side. In his hand, he held a beautiful bouquet of red tulips.

Kagome gasped in shock, they were beautiful.

The bellhop handed them to her, and held his hand out palm up expectantly.

“Who are they from?” She asked politely.

“Man came drop them off for you.” He said, “though I didn’t know he swung that way.”

“What way?” Kagome asked in confusion.

“Nothing, I just didn’t think he was into men, feminine ones at that.”

Kagome gasped realizing that she still had the wig and boy clothes on. She pulled off the wig and said, “I am a woman.”

The bellboy stepped back in shock.  “Oh, I am sorry ma’am. Please forgive me.” He bowed politely.

“It’s alright, you wanted you tip right?”

“Yes please.”

“Hold on, okay?” Kagome said smiling. She walked into the room to get her purse; she inhaled the tulips’ beautiful scent as she pulled a ten dollar bill from her purse.

Walking back to the door, she handed the ten dollars to the bellboy who beamed up at her. She closed the door after he left and went to the tulips. She saw that they were red with black strips and were gorgeous.

‘I wonder who they’re from.’ She put her hand to her chin in thought, ‘Inuyasha? No. Miroku? No. Kouga? No.’ Kagome thought hard, and could feel the answer, but it hadn’t made itself known.

“I wonder if there’s a card.” Kagome mumbled. Looking at the bouquet closer, she saw a small white envelope sticking out. Grabbing it, she opened it to see a card with pictures of tulips on it. It read, Good luck tonight. You are beautiful.

Kagome looked at the bottom to see that it was unsigned. “Damn.” She muttered. “Damn!” She repeated as she looked at the clock to see that it read, 7:30, the charity event was at 8:00 and she had to be on time.

Grabbing her purse, she looked in the mirror one more time to make sure nothing was wrong before she walked out the door and down the stairs. Nodding at the desk clerk she walked outside. Handing her ticket to the valet, she tapped her foot waiting for him to bring it around.

Finally he got back, and jumped out. She got the keys from him and lid into the front seat. Adjusting her seat and mirrors, she peeled out of the parking lot. Speeding down the street, she growled in frustration as she was stopped by a red light.

Tapping her foot impatiently, she stomped on the gas as soon as the light turned green.

She pulled into the parking lot ten minutes later. Jumping out of her car she grinned victoriously. “I made it!” She did a brief victory dance before fixing her composure and walking calmly into the building.

“Kagome!” Sango called walking over to her. “You have five minutes to get dressed oh.” Sango stopped seeing her already dresses, okay you’re up!”

She grabbed her arm and led her to the stage. Behind the curtains, Kagome felt a little nervous. Hearing the announcer say, “Okay ladies and gentlemen first up modeling a new line from Gucci called ‘Radiant’ is the lovely model Ms. Kagome Higurashi!!” A series of claps and whistles followed as the spot light landed on her and she began to strut down the runway.

Twirling and showing off the outfit she was wearing she almost stopped in surprise as she saw him. Her long time crush Sesshomaru. But, like the experienced model she was, she didn’t let it stop her, she continued, and showed the outfit off before walking off the stage.

She stepped off the stage and to the changing room. Closing and locking the door, she hurriedly grabbed a black mini dress with turquoise streaks. Grabbing the matching black flats, she changed out of the boy clothes and into something more… appropriate.

Taking the wig off, she fixed her hair in curls, and put on a little lip gloss. Checking herself in the mirror one more time, she deemed herself ready.

She unlocked the door and opened it just in time to hear the announcer say, “That’s all for now folks, thanks for coming, be sure to donate money to our charity for kids with Leukemia! Anything is appreciated!”

Kagome walked down the hall and into the ball room. She saw Sango and walked over to her. “Ah! Here she is!” Sango said as she turned around.

Kagome’s heart began to race as she saw him. “Sesshomaru.” She whispered.

His amber orbs looked her up and down, making her feel slightly insecure. “Kagome.” He nodded his head.”Excellent performance.”

Kagome’s cheeks heated as she remembered that he had seen her dressed like a boy. “Yeah uh,” She rubbed the back of her head awkwardly, “Sango made me.”

He raised his brow. “Um… I have to go uh-

“Kagome!” Ayame called.

“Ayame!” Kagome walked over to her.

Sango turned to Sesshomaru, “You had better not hurt her.” She warned.

Sesshomaru stared after Kagome, “I have no intentions of doing so.” He walked away after Kagome.

After Kagome finished talking to Ayame, she turned to fin Sango. She bumped into somebody’s hard chest.

“Oh, I’m sorr-

She looked up into Sesshomaru’s amber orbs, unable to help herself she leaned up and kissed him. She pulled away mumbling, “Uh- I’m sorr-

She was cut off by his lips meeting her’s again. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and he wrapped his around her waist.

He traced his tongue along her bottom lip asking for entrance, which she quickly granted. His tongue entered her mouth and began to explore her sweet cavern. He pulled her flush against him.

At hearing someone clear their throat, Kagome and Sesshomaru pulled apart. Looking over, Kagome saw Sango smirking with her arms crossed over her chest.

Blushing, Kagome pulled away.

“I knew it was a good idea to invite him.” Sango stated, happy at her geniusness.

A look of confusion passed Kagome’s face, “You set this up?” She asked Sango.

Sango laughed, “Of course, don’t I always?”

“Yeah, even when I don’t want you too.” Kagome mumbled.

“What was that?” Sango leaned forward with her hand to her ear.

“Nothing.” Kagome laughed.

“Uh huh, I’m sure, anyway, I’m just gonna go now.” With that Sango walked off.

Sesshomaru grabbed Kagome’s hand and led her outside. There was a water fountain, a koi pond, and a stone bench under a blooming Sakura tree.

He led her to the bench where he had her sit down. Kagome was in awe. The koi pond had fish in it with sparkling blue stones at the bottom, the water fountain made a beautiful sound as water hit water. A sakura blossom fell and landed in Sesshomaru’s hand. He sat next to her and put it in her hair.

“You’re beautiful.”

“Thank you.”

“Did you like the flowers?”

“Yes.”

I know, I know, horrible ending. But I hope you liked it anyway.
