Prompt: Philomath

This drabble was written for Smittee’s Alphabet challenge.

Standard disclaimer applies. I do not own Inuyasha.

Prompt: Philomath – lover of learning.

“Lady Kagome could you kindly explain,” Miroku chose to enquire when the raven haired girl finally awoke, stretching her aching limbs in a feline manner.

“There is nothing to explain,” she said calmly, wriggling her way out of Sesshomaru’s hold in favour of standing on slightly wobbly legs, not comfortable with how enjoyable she found being close to him or how acutely she felt the loss of his body heat, belatedly realising that his chest was bare. Quickly killing the birthing images of the exquisite smooth planes of his muscles and rather delectable collar bones but inches away from her face, Kagome chose to clarify her statement somewhat.

“We must be grateful to Rin. If it wasn’t for her clans’ skills we wouldn’t have survived.”

“Eh?” Rin said, betraying her surprise to all, raising further suspicion which none concealed.

“Lady Kagome, correct me if I am mistaken but didn’t you..”

“I did nothing,” the last word was shot over her shoulder together with a look full of warning, the monk opening his mouth and then shutting it abruptly, tucking the newfound knowledge away for later consideration. He, a philomath at heart, loved a mystery and it appeared that particularly intriguing one could soon be untangled.

“Kaede and Sango are here,” Rin said as her smile cooled. “I do not think they are pleased.”

“It matters not. They will be glad that I returned for a visit once they see this,” the azure eyed girl said with a genuine smile, referring to the artefact that still rested securely in her hand.

I think this chapter went rather well. Kagome is safe, Rin is happy, Miroku is plotting, Inuyasha is confused and Sesshomaru is partially naked. All is the way it should be.
