Chapter 136

This drabble was written for Riku Ryuu's Random Prompts.

Standard disclaimer applies. I do not own Inuyasha.

Prompt: storm (or here it is rather the quiet before the storm)

Words: 321

Beta: Maryse. Thank you very much!

“I have to go alone, the succubus’ hold no allure for me but you,” she said looking at each male pointedly before they forged another set of reasons for them to accompany her, “may find them too irresistible to continue.”

“Keh, as if some wench can do that to me. I ain’t some fool to go crazy for a girl, especially a dead one like someone.”

“Hn, this one has yet to see you approach a female. It makes one wonder...”

“Oi! What did you just-”

“Sshhh, you two are worse than children!” she rebuked Inuyasha, before Sesshomaru decided to dissect him, “Now hush, I need to concentrate.”

Turning, her eyes met golden orbs. Smiling brightly, she bid goodbye to him, but the Western Lord regarded her coldly, a curt nod being his answer. Her smile cooling until there was none left, Kagome turned away, walking forwards until the waves licked at her toes.

Kagome treaded the calm waters, letting her intuition guide her. Finally, finding a place that felt to be better suited for her purposes than any other, she started walking forwards, whispering as she traced symbols in the still air, slender fingers cutting through the element with practiced ease. As she was almost fully submerged, her barrier was finally erected, cocooning her protectively, the only defense against the dark, sinister waters.

She glanced over her shoulder one last time, mouthing something muffled by the hot, electric energies swirling around her and then, with the walls of her spell merging to cover her fully, she was gone.

Sesshomaru stared after her for as long as his keen eyes would allow him to, until she was completely swallowed by the masses of black waters. Miroku, looking up at his lord, was slightly taken aback by the expression of extreme longing on the reticent demon’s face, now understanding that it was not anger but worry that fuelled his previous uncaring facade.
