Separation and Reconnection

Prompt: Bed

Word Count: 236

Sniffles were heard in the entirety of the tiny apartment that Kagome now lived in in a remote part of Northern Japan. It has been about two months since she left Sesshomaru. She drove until she almost ran out of gas and came across a tiny little town, and that’s where she decided to stay. She had put down on the first apartment she could get and started searching for a job. She now worked as a waitress in a local restraint. The work kept her mind off of everything.

However, her boss forced her take a day off today, telling her she worked too hard. So she could be found in her bed clutching a shirt of Sesshomaru’s that had accidentally gotten in with her clothes when she packed in her hurry. She fell asleep with it every night and wondered why the man that she was deeply in love with didn’t want her. The sniffles soon died as Kagome passed out from her crying

Sesshomaru paced in his room. He once again scoured everywhere for Kagome, and once again couldn’t find her. Rin had been devastated when she had learned Kagome had left. She was now refusing to talk to him. Sesshomaru fell down on to the bed that just barely held her scent and looked at the ring that she left behind. Unbeknownst to him a lone tear trailed down his face.

Prompt: Action

Sesshomaru sighed as he sat in a boring business meeting that he was forced to attend. He wanted nothing more than to be out there searching for Kagome and apologizing to her. If they were still together they would have been on their honeymoon by now. It has been yet another month, and his beast no longer howled in sorrow for their lost mate. It now just whimpered pathetically, emulating how he felt. Oh how he wished he didn’t say what he had said.

“Sesshomaru-sama?” The voice of his current secretary, Kagome’s sister, cut into his thoughts. He spared her a glance. He helped her end the mistake of a mating she made and she has spent the time when she wasn’t working for him helping him to try and find Kagome. She had also become a good nanny for if he was gone for several days at a time to try and find Kagome. “The meeting is waiting for you to close.”

Upon hearing that he dismissed the meeting and stood walking towards his office, one of the heads to his financing department caught up to him, and requested permission to speak/ He nodded.

“Sesshomaru-sama, I mean no disrespect, but maybe it’s time you give up the hunt for this human woman you’re obsessed about. You’re neglecting your duties, and there are several other women out there. I’m sure you don’t need that human woman. My daughter would love to—“ he was cut off as he was held by his neck, and gulped as he saw how angry his CEO was.

“Do not presume to tell me who I can be or can’t be obsessed with. I will have no other than the mate I chose. You can keep your pathetic attempts to climb the social ladder to yourself. You’re fired.” Sesshomaru dropped the male and continued walking well aware of the eyes watching him. “Kikyo. Come. I have some items for you to mail,” Sesshomaru commanded.

Kagome sighed as she leaned against the building of her work and breathed in the air. She was no longer crying at night but that didn’t mean that she missed Sesshomaru like crazy. He almost found her once, but she had quickly ducked behind a building. She just didn’t think it had been her he had been looking for. He was probably looking to expand his business.

A sudden rustling noise into the garbage next to her startled Kagome, as she looked in to find a tiny fox demon baby; she was shocked that someone would leave a baby in a dumpster. Kagome picked him up and went inside to let her boss know of her discover. After being given the day off, Kagome decided to take action and went to the general store to get stuff for a baby.

Prompt: Distance

After two months of searching for the parents and never finding them, the town judge gave Kagome full custody of the little kit. She had named him Shippo so that his name would be fully recorded. The doctor told her he was about a year old when she found him and she decided to make his birthday the day she was told he was hers. She now had a slightly bigger apartment to house her and her new little one; and with this new distraction she no longer thought of the distance between her and Sesshomaru. Though her heart still craved for him, she locked it away under lock and key. Her sole focus was going to be on the child she now had.

She was currently strapping Shippo into a stroller and was getting ready to meet her new friend Sango. Humming a tune, Kagome headed out the door.

Sesshomaru was once again in a small town in Northern Japan. He had his computer with him, to do business, and since he had caught a scent of Kagome up here, decided to rent a hotel room, and possibly even set up another business. But that was secondary to his quest to find Kagome. Sighing, he walked to the clerk desk and asked for the nearest park. He was then directed to a park a few miles away from the hotel. And so he went to the park he had been directed to.

Prompt: Eye

Word Count: 112

Kagome stood swinging Shippo in the baby swings conversing with Sango, smiling a smile that didn’t quite feel real. Suddenly a familiar youki washed over her and she turned to look in the direction it was coming from. As her eyes met the familiar golden look of her, she saw a flash of something like hurt in his eyes. Then before she knew it, there was the hard steel back in his eyes. “Sango, keep an eye on Shippo. I’ll be right back,” Kagome said, as she made her way over to the man that her heart longed for. Soon, she was only steps from the arms she longed to be in.

Prompt: Frog

Word Count: 322

He looked down at the woman he had been looking for, for months, and when he finally found her, he sees her with a kid. He felt a pang of hurt in him that it hasn’t been that long and already she’s moved on and had someone else’s kid. He saw her catch his eyes and immediately steeled his eyes. If she didn’t want him anymore, than he wasn’t going to allow her to see his pain, she didn’t deserve the privilege. His eyes followed her as she walked over to him. He took in a deep breath to take in her scent. He smelt her son on her, but no male. He was confused, but he wasn’t going to say anything.

Kagome looked up at him and went to say something, but then it felt like a frog invaded her voice because all that came out was a croak. Blushing, she cleared her throat and tried speaking again. “Sesshomaru, what are you doing here?”

“I was looking for the woman who walked out of my life, when a bad decision had been made, but I find her with another’s pup. I can see looking for you and going to try and convince you to come back was a mistake. Good luck Kagome.”

The coldness in Sesshomaru’s voice chilled Kagome, and as he turned to walk away she quickly reached out to stop him. “Sesshomaru, please wait, let me explain Shippo. He’s a baby I found.” Sesshomaru stopped moving but shook Kagome’s arm off, letting her know she had his attention- for the moment. “I was taking a break at my job here, and I heard Shippo in the dumpster. We looked for his parents for months before the courts just gave full custody of him to me. He may be my son, but he’s adopted. Sess, I never,” Kagome stopped as the old emotions and tears came back, choking her up.

Prompt: Chain

Word Count: 206

“Sesshomaru, I’ve never stopped loving you. I cried for months after I left you. Leaving was the worst and hardest thing I have ever done. But you didn’t want me,” Kagome turned her head and bit her lip to stop the tears before whispering, “I had to chain my heart away so it wouldn’t break to pieces not being near you. I love you Sesshomaru. I probably always will.”

Sesshomaru’s beast howled in joy at hearing her words, and his heart leapt for joy. But he wouldn’t let himself feel hope. He looked over his shoulder, down at the woman whom held his heart. Her eyes were full of unshed tears and she was looking away from him, her hand still reaching out to him. “You left. And then hid from me, you didn’t even try to stay.”

“You didn’t want me! You wanted to remain single!” Kagome shouted. “You didn’t want to marry me, or mate me.”

“I never said I wanted to stay single. I just didn’t want to move up the date. I wanted to make sure we were both a hundred percent committed to this, considering you’d just been in a harmful relationship before, and it came right after you’d been kidnapped.”

Prompt: Treasure

Word Count: 208

Sesshomaru paused for a second. “You were the most important treasure that I have ever had. I most likely used poor word chose when I gave you my decision, but I had had every intention of making you mine.”

Kagome turned to look at him, silent tears rolling down her face. “Kagome, I don’t mean to interrupt, but I’ve to get back to work, and he was getting fussy,” Sango said, bringing Shippo back over to Kagome. “I’ll see you later.” Kagome took Shippo and balanced him on one hip, as Sesshomaru turned to look at her.

“Sess, maybe we could try again? I miss you,” Kagome said miserably, “But this little one has to come with me.”

Sesshomaru paused for contemplation. He never expected her to bring up trying again. It didn’t take him long to decide, as he didn’t want to lose her again. He grabbed Kagome and pulled her into him as he bent his head and kissed the plump lips of the woman that he’s missed terribly. Pulling back he said, “Come home with me?”

All Kagome could do was nod. She then led him to her apartment, so that they could talk to catch up and get her and Shippo ready to move.
