“It’s not much farther. Looks like Naraku wants to be poetic.” Kagome grimaced when she realized where he was waiting for them.

“Keh. What are you talking about wench?”

“Don’t you see where we are?”

Though the trees blocked their immediate view, Inuyasha realized what she meant. The dark clouds of growing miasma were easily seen overhead, “That bastards in my forest.”

“Make no mistake half-breed. Naraku’s life is mine to end.”

Kagome smiled at an unknown joke while Inuyasha declared, “Not if I get there first.”

Red fire-rat disappeared into the darkness and Kagome’s heart contracted with knowing clarity.
