Without a word Kagome stood to leave. Inuyasha tried to stop her but she shrugged him off. “I won’t go far.” She whispered.

She couldn’t sit around and wait for what she knew was coming. Though everyone seemed safe, something in the back of her mind told her not to get comfortable.

She settled herself against the side of a moss-covered stump and closed her eyes. She hadn’t had a minute to think to herself since she’d woken up, and it was nice to finally be alone with her thoughts.

The snap of a twig alerted her to his presence.
