The room was dark except for the barrier she’d erected to keep her safe from unwanted attentions.

Though she was still asleep, the barriers strength did not waiver. Shippou took a cautionary step towards her, wondering if it would still allow him entrance like it had so long ago. There would be only one way to find out.

The pink bubble hummed under his touch, but didn’t burn him.

Who were you trying to keep out, mama?

As he stepped through the barrier it fizzled out and died. He didn’t think he could have done it, but he worried nonetheless.
