She was as still as stone, lying exactly as they’d left her earlier. Her breathing was even. Proving, even now, she still slept. It was not normal, deeper somehow, and he wondered how he would rouse her.

Sesshoumaru hovered over her. Truly, she looked like nothing more than an ordinary girl. She did not radiate the strength he knew she could possess.

And yet…

There was something about her.

He knew she was no ordinary girl. The jewel in her possession had seen to that. He wanted to witness that power once more, if only once. He needed to understand.
