Shippou couldn’t stop the bitter helplessness he felt building in his chest. He’d failed her. Again.

“She is not yet gone.” Sesshoumaru stated when Shippou left her side.

“I don’t care what you have to say anymore.”

“Inuyasha still sleeps.”

Shippou allowed some of his grief to lessen. Setting his gaze upon the lord he commanded, “I’m going to tell you a story.”

Though his tone warranted no discussion, Sesshoumaru would not let Shippou have the last word. Raising a silver brow, Sesshoumaru allowed, “You may begin.”

Shippou smirked and recited, “Once upon a time, Kagome fell down a well."
