The Puppy by Riku Ryuu

Squeaky Dog

Hello again! I figured I would write another one of these because I'm too lazy to work on anything longer tonight. This is for the Search Challenge, another one of Skye's challenges.

Enjoy.

“Hiccup!”

Sesshomaru frowned down at his laptop and pressed the enter key again.

“Hiccup!”

He scowled at the screen in annoyance. There was absolutely no reason for his school’s website to be hiccupping at him and it was entirely unprofessional. He was trying to turn a paper in to his teacher, a paper that had taken him many hours to complete, but the page refused to load. Now there was hiccupping? Sesshomaru wondered if it was time to take his computer in for a checkup or maybe even trade it in for a newer version.

“Hiccup!”

Sesshomaru blinked at the noise. He hadn’t clicked on anything that would cause the noise, but a second later the page changed to tell him that his paper had been sent. He pondered over the strange behavior of his computer but he was not overly worried. As long as the paper got to his teacher, he did not feel that the noise was important. If anything else strange happened, he would call someone in.

A quick glance at the computer’s clock showed him that it was past ten at night. With a small sight at how many hours he had lost to the one assignment, Sesshomaru closed his laptop and scooted his chair back. He had a class that started early in the morning and he was not going to go to class sleep deprived.

“Hiccup!”

The chair turned and Sesshomaru stared down at the little puppy that sat in the doorway. “I left you in the kitchen.” He said with a shake of his head. Dolly answered with another hiccup that had her whole body jumping. “Hmmm… Are you supposed to do that?”

Sesshomaru frowned at the little Dalmatian as she continued to make little squeaking hiccups. Sesshomaru thought she sounded like one of the millions of squeaky toys Kagome had gotten for the puppy, and he was not at all sure if it was natural. If Dolly got sick and he did nothing about it, Kagome would never forgive him. Reluctantly, Sesshomaru turned back to his computer and he flipped the top up. He typed in ‘puppy hiccups’ in his search engine and hit the enter key, causing a list of websites to pop up. The first website brought up was an article about puppy hiccups, and figuring an article would be much more fact filled than any idiotic blog, Sesshomaru clicked on it and began to read.

The article told him that hiccups were normal for puppies and even went on to say that they sometimes got hiccups while still inside of the mother. The article mentioned that the hiccups did not last very long and would stop after a few minutes. Sure enough, when Sesshomaru glanced at Dolly, who had moved next to his chair to lie down, no more hiccups came from the small dog. He sighed and got out of his chair.

“Back to the kitchen.” He told the dog. Surprisingly, the dog got to her feet and padded towards the kitchen. Sesshomaru opened the kitchen door and waited for her to go through before closing it behind her. He wandered off to bed, hoping to get plenty of sleep. Ten minutes after he was asleep, the little Dalmatian hopped onto his bed and took her normal spot.

I hope you liked it. I know it is short and I think I like them that way. At least this way I get more stuff out much quicker than I am use to. I would love to hear from you so please leave me a review.

Thank you.
