Sesshomaru was on his way to leave the house when he saw her.  Kagome was slumped on the couch, eyes closed and cuddled into her little blue robe. Her slippers sat innocently next to the couch, cheery guard dogs with Dolly directly between them. Neither of them moved and Sesshomaru moved closer, worried in spite of his determination to keep his emotions to himself. After moving a few steps closer Sesshomaru could clearly hear the little snore of the puppy and see Kagome’s chest moving from her gentle breaths in sleep. Sesshomaru gave a little shake of his head at the pair. Kagome had probably situated herself on the couch to wait for him to leave, to give him her going away kiss, and had fallen asleep.

Sesshomaru walked to the couch and leaned down over the woman. Giving her a soft kiss, he quickly straightened and headed for the door. He was berating himself before he was even out of the house.

Soft rain fell on Sesshomaru’s car, beating against the hood with little pings. Though it was not hard rain, it had been raining all day so the roads were unsafe and Sesshomaru could not risk being distracted by the road. He had already seen one accident on the road and he did not want to be the next one.

The raindrops continued and something occurred to him. If Kagome had decided to go out today, would she change her plans because of the rainfall? She was rather hardheaded, so Sesshomaru knew she would. Horror rose and he thought of all the possibilities. She could have simply gone out for lunch and come across a flooded street. Right now she could be shivering on top of her car, waiting for someone to rescue her as the water slowly rose. Sesshomaru shook the thoughts out and focused on getting home; if she wasn’t there he would go looking.

Sesshomaru pulled his car into his driveway and pressed his garage opener. To his relief, Kagome’s little car sat within. Sesshomaru parked his car and quickly got out and into the rain. He did not take the time to get the umbrella from his car, instead just heading for the house and entering through the garage door. He inspected Kagome’s car as he passed and noticed that it was completely dry. He frowned, for the first time wondering what Kagome did all day.

Sesshomaru entered the house and hung up his coat on a small hook on the door. He paused and waited for her voice to call him in welcome, like all of the other days when she was home. When no voice came he frowned and headed for the game room.

“Kagome?” He peeked in but the room was dark, no light turned on and with the sun blocked there was no illumination from the windows. He moved to the kitchen, thinking she might have decided to snack. No female form could be seen leaning into the fridge or checking the pantry… Where was she?

Sesshomaru walked all around and even went so far as to check the back yard. There was no sign of the woman, and even stranger none of the puppy. Dolly usually greeted him just as warm as Kagome, so it was strange indeed.

Sesshomaru shook his head, annoyed with himself. The only logical conclusion was that they were out for a walk… Though it was raining the puppy still needed to go on walks. Deciding that was probably what had happened, Sesshomaru walked to the front room, wanting to leave his shoes there. As soon as he entered the room he found his missing girlfriend and Dalmatian, in the exact spots they had been in before he left.

He checked his watch, worried about how long they had slept. If they had not gotten up, they would have stayed there for nine hours. Add that to however long they had slept the night before, it was just not normal.

Sesshomaru moved to Kagome and took hold of her shoulders.

“Wake up.”

Dolly instantly woke and began to play around his feet. She barked her welcome, being interrupted halfway through it with a little yawn. Kagome took a hand upon her shoulder and a slight shaking before her blue eyes opened and looked blurrily up at Sesshomaru. She stretched her arms and gave a yawn, much like the puppy.

“Is it time for you to leave already?” She asked, glancing around the room in search of a clock. When she found it she just blinked at it. “Oh. I guess you just got back.”

“Have you been sleeping here all day?” Sesshomaru asked, moving his hand to her forehead to make sure she didn’t have a fever. She seemed fine to him, causing him to become even more confused.

“Yeah,” She smiled at him sheepishly. “Dolly and I stayed up all night watching movies.”

Sesshomaru shook his head.

“You are so lazy.”
